When we read the book of Deuteronomy, it may read like a checklist of things God's people are commanded to do, and things God's people are commanded not to do. But if that's all you are getting out of it, you are missing a lot! Deuteronomy is not so much a checklist for us, as it is for God - listing all of the things God does for His people. How does God's checklist in Deuteronomy transfer to us? Join us!

In Judges 6:1 - 2, the Israelites hide out in caves and dens instead of crying out to God, repenting of their sin, and moving on. It takes them seven years before they realize this is what they needed to do. Sometimes, even as Christians who know that Jesus has granted us forgiveness of our sins, we can hide out in our own caves of guilt and shame. What does this Judges passage teach us about the sin and danger of doing that?

In this episode, we look at Ruth 1:1. The book of Ruth follows on the heels of the book of Judges; arguably the darkest period in Israel's history where, "Everyone did what was right in their own eyes." The book of Ruth is seen as a bright side in that tragic period. And it was! However, it doesn't start out that way. What does Elimelech and his family, "doing what was right in their own eyes," have to teach us and how do they illustrate, "The Castrated Christian?"

In 1 Samuel 22, even while David was running for his life, he took the time to bring his parents to Moab to keep them safe. Caring for our aging parents can sometimes be hard, but as David shows us, that is never a reason not to do it!

Although a man after God's own heart, and a great king, David was a pretty lousy parent. He was indulgent of his children, never held them accountable for the sinful things they did, never tried to bring them to repentance, and never even tried to bring them to faith in God. What message does David's neglectful parenting and the consequences of that neglect send to us? Join us as we delve into 2Sam 19: 5 - 6

In King David’s household, we see rape, murder, treason, deception, jealousy, hate, lack of accountability, lack of repentance, and a complete disregard for God and His Word. Considering that, how can David possibly say at the end of his life in 2 Samuel 23:5, that his house is right with God? And what implications does David's bold statement have for us?

When we read some of the Psalms of David, we can be a little shocked at how boldly David asks God to curse his enemies. Were these Psalms, known as imprecatory prayers appropriate for David to pray? Are they appropriate for us to pray? Do they contradict Jesus' Words to love our enemies. Join us as we look at Psalm 109!

Since the 2nd Century, there has been much debate on who the real 12th Apostle was after Judas Iscariot killed himself. Was it Mathias whom the Apostles prayed about and drew lots to see who Jesus would choose? Or was it Paul who Jesus appeared to on the road to Damascus and specifically called to be an Apostle to the Gentiles? Will the REAL 12th Apostle please stand up!
