Episode 36 - We Meet Again at Last
2nd Chance Cinema Club

The boys are back for a spooktacular special!
After a short hiatus last week, normal service has now been resumed. By which we mean the usual nonsense and ramblings that constitutes an AITSP episode.
Steff and Hutch discuss their holidays and how they tried to shoehorn in as much Star Wars stuff as they could. Quite easy at Disneyland as it turns out, not so much at the Berlin Lego Centre.
Being Halloween week, we also discuss our scariest Star Wars moments and the lengths Steff will go to for Trick or Treating.
There's also a roundup of the latest Loki episodes, tips on tricking your spouse, and the bizarre case of the Donnie Yen typecasting...

Episode 19 - Blockbuster movie franchises, creativity crushers or unsung heroes?
2nd Chance Cinema Club
06/30/23 • 78 min
Join Steff and Hutch as they debate whether a lack of original content and constant sequels/reboots are killing off cinema as we know it, or whether it's the only thing keeping it alive.
In a world where we consume our media very differently, what is the future for the humble multiplex?
We also find out why only one of the pair actually made it to Naboo last weekend, and hear the revelation that Hutch doesn't really know how to use the phrase "The chicken and the egg".

See You at the Party! Show relaunch, Total Recall review, John Williams, Star Wars news
2nd Chance Cinema Club
11/22/24 • 75 min
A new dawn rises on your favourite “hosted by two slightly grumpy and sweary middle-aged Englishmen” podcast.
We have now turned our infamous movie review section into the main focus of the show and are officially rebranding as the 2nd Chance Cinema Club!
The first film under our irreverent microscope is Paul Verhoeven’s gaslight fest, 1990’s Total Recall. Both Steff and Hutch remember this film fondly, but is it still as good as we recall (sorry), or is that just the implants talking?
But fear not, Alone in the South Passage is still going strong, and will remain as our weekly Star Wars feature. This week we talk about the new John Williams documentary on Disney+ and get a roundup of the various Star Wars movies in production.

Episode 17 - What have Disney done to Star Wars?
2nd Chance Cinema Club
06/16/23 • 71 min
This week we look at the impact of the Disney takeover on Star Wars and the broader implications for Lucasfilm. Our discussion centers around the key questions of:
- Have Disney shown enough respect to the source material?
- What's been the highlight of the Disney era so far?
- Has anything really offended us?
"It’s Christmas 2012. Children all over the world are buzzing with anticipation as they await the arrival of an uninvited stranger in their home. Elsewhere, some slightly older children (fully grown men) are equally giddy with excitement as the long rumored purchase of Lucasfilm by Disney is confirmed.
The deal, worth a reported $4B, is completed and it appears that George Lucas will all but retire.
Kathleen Kennedy is promoted from her post of co-chairwoman to President of Lucasfilm and it’s announced that The Force Awakens will go into production with a targeted release date in 2015."
