2200TAPS

A Veterans mission to help save lives by giving people a safe place to share their stories through film, music and media!
Why? Losing people, especially our own kids to suicide is absolutely gut wrenching. Losing 22 Veterans a day is bullshit and I was almost one of them! I will continue to stop at nothing until we get that number down to ZERO!
We share stories of those who have gone through traumas/tragedies, but how they've been able to overcome them because somebody needs to hear it. Is that somebody you?

2200TAPS Podcast - EP:20 How to fight the real battle of COVID-19!
play

05/12/20 • 67 min

Here we are almost 2 month into the most historic and crazy time in our lives. COVID-19 has been a pain in our ass on the work front and home front. But there's one thing that's becoming another form of tragedy with COVID that not many people have been talking about and that's mental health.
The suicide rates have climbed for Doctors, Nurses and those on the front lines trying to get a handle on this. People are relapsing with their drug, alcohol and other addictions. The domestic abuse for both children and adults have also gone up to no end yet people are only consumed with what the media wants you to know.
Well here at 2200TAPS, we are holding true to our mission and doing what we can to help provide resources and hope to those who just might need something different right now. I myself have had to be gut level honest with myself of whats working and what's not. I got to thinking and decided to reach out to a buddy of mine to see if we could create a really cool episode around this and we did just that.
So join me on this special episode as we sit down with 2 special guests who are immersed in the mental health community, Nancy Reffit, MS, LPC, LCDC and Recovery Coach Brandon Skidmore. Both of them jumped on the opportunity to jump on and share ways we can take care of ourselves and help others during this pandemic!

Hold on to your seats as we bring to you one hell of an episode y'all!
We were blessed to have Lakeydra Houston, USAF (Ret.) on the show and dude...she brought it something fierce! The amount of vulnerability this incredible woman brought to the table was rock star status!!
Lakeydra's story is gut wrenching yet beautiful. A woman who at the tender age of 6 experienced her first sexual assault for years at home. In her personal journey to escape it, she experienced it yet again within her first 6 months as a new Airman in the U.S. Air Force.
After sharing her story with one of her recruits that ultimately saved that recruits life, she is on a mission to continue to help make the changes the Military needs in order to help save others.
If you're a higher up or someone in a leadership position, I would encourage you to listen to this!
Thank you Lakeydra for your story. Let's go move mountains sister!!

What an episode we just had with out brothers Drew and TJ. They are both Active Duty bro's/supervisors who have dealt with a lot of loss when it comes to suicide. They have also responded to multiple suicide attempts and struggles of their own.
Join us as we sit down with them to talk about all of this, how they are handling moments when it's their own subordinates struggling with it and how they've been handling loses of their own.
We had no idea where we were going with this episode but what I can say is that it turned out better than we thought. They put it all on the line so that others know that their not alone and to help showcase that it's ok to not be ok!!!
