You're Wrong

In this installment of M.U.R.I.C.A., You're Wrong's celebration of the life and works of Nic Cage, the nerds (minus Spencer; his computer jumped off a bridge) tackled the 2000's remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. Yes, it's a remake and no, you haven't heard of a single one of the actors on the cast of the original 1974 movie.

This is a movie that really shows its age, much more so than the previous two. There are a couple of very... problematic... things in it, things that would cause everyone involved with it to be tarred and feathered if it was released nowadays — and rightly so, might I add.

It's also a movie that has a lot of people in it. And I do mean a LOT. Enough to fill the cast of two movies, really. And not all of those actors are, uh... great at their craft, let's put it. I mean, it's one thing to have an ensemble cast; it's completely another to just cram everybody and their dog (literally!) into a movie for... reasons, I guess?

Welcome to a new You're Wrong series! In this one, your favourite nerds will be celebrating the work and career of one of the greatest thespians ever to grace the silver screen: Nicolas Cage! The name they chose for this new series? M.U.R.I.C.A., obviously. What else could it possibly have been?

The first "masterpiece" they decided to discuss was Ghost Rider. You know, that Marvel movie with an amazing, intricate storyline, incredible visual effects, superb acting and deep, complex character arcs, that came out way (read: about a year) before the MCU got its start with Iron Man. A movie so memorable nobody completely forgot existed (nor wish it didn't).

In a slight variation from the previous Pick a Trailer episode, Chris, Luciano, Matt and Spencer each picked a trailer for an upcoming game for which they had thoughts about – specifically, God of War: Ragnarok, New World, Riders Republic and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands – and had the other 3 hosts watch as well, so that they could all comment on it.
Also in slight variation from the previous Pick a Trailer episode, while the insanity was still pretty much all there (to no-one's surprise), at least the levels of coherence were a lot higher (which, to be fair, was a very low bar to clear). We also learned that some of our hosts' video-game preferences are... conflicting? Yeah... let's go with "conflicting". 😶

They've complained. They've whined and bellyached. They've nitpicked. They have poked, prodded and otherwise manhandled each and every DC Extended Universe movie released so far.

Now, it's time for them to tell us where they would go from here. This week, Chris, Luciano, Matt and Spencer have fixed the fucking DCEU.
Being the prima donnas we know they are, each of them obviously felt the need to come up with their own ideas, so we actually get FOUR potential fixes to choose from. They each picked their favourite out of the other three options at the end, and you, dear listener, will get to vote on your preferred option as well (make sure to follow @yourewrongcast on Twitter to get notified when the poll is posted!).
Hopefully, with these many options and so much guidance on which ones everyone prefers, Warner Bros. will finally be able to make a good decision for a change? Eh, I wouldn't count on it. 😒

The You're Wrong crew (yeah, I'm done typing all their dumb names – there's too many of them now, and you know who they are) continues their analysis of the DC Extended Universe movies. This week, they'll be squabbling about Aquaman!

This movie really got the lads fired up. Whetted their interest. Titilated them. Yeah... it was a very thrilling film to watch...

Huh? No, no! Ew. What I meant was that their eyeballs were pleased. They were optically delighted, as it were. Get your mind out of the gutter, sheesh.
