But when a government-funded expedition finds Vibranium on the ocean floor, a new threat rises to the surface to challenge the Wakandans in order to protect their underground world. Shuri, with the help of friends new and old, must find a way to heal from the past and forge her own path forward to save Wakanda. With some leveled humor amidst the heartbreak and surprises, this film pays a loving tribute to the character of King T'Challa - the Black Panther - as well as his portrayer, the late Chadwick Boseman. #birthdayepisode #battlebeyondthestars We finish out our 2021 Birthday episodes with Anthony's pick, the 1980 Sci-Fi film, Battle Beyond the Stars. After his peace-loving planet is threatened by the space conqueror Sador, a young farmer named Shad goes into space to recruit a group of mercenaries to fight Sador's army and protect the planet Akir. Keeping in mind that this is a film from the 80s (which means there are lots of problematic aspects based on today's standards), watching and discussing this film was a lot of fun.
