Dr. Thomas Barksdale II is a clinically trained practitioner specializing in trauma, grief, loss, mental health, and substance use. He is known as a transparent speaker, trainer, university counselor, and presenter with a passion for student engagement and development. Throughout his professional career, Thomas he has helped people self-discover and harnesses their better selves. Dr. Barksdale has presented at national, state, and local conferences and has been a featured speaker for communities across the country. Thomas works closely with professional athletes to harness communal impact. Thomas is also an ordained minister and is often asked to share spiritual messages with congregations and faith-based settings.
Through his counseling and speaking with students, he seeks to identify and name ‘foundational/root’ challenges in a safe context that addresses transformational solutions to ensure that all young people have productive lives. He believes in inclusion and that humankind is woven into a community with mutual and shared values.
He is the author of two books, It’s All About You: A Young Adult’s Guide to Positive Living and Minister As Mentor: A Case For Biblical Mentoring. He is married with two children and loves to play golf.
