Ep 60: 10 Favorite Things (Right Now) Volume III
10 Things To Tell You
04/07/20 • 47 min
This episode is for anyone looking for a little cheer and distraction.
It's another Favorite Things episode! My current favorites are definitely influenced by the current coronavirus quarantine, but there's a little something for everyone here: books, beauty products, kitchen items, and the few mindsets that are keeping me sane in self-isolation.

10 Things To Tell You

Ally Fallon is an author, ghostwriter, and book coach, which means she is exquisitely qualified to share tips on writing your story.
It doesn't matter if you plan to publish the story you want to tell, or just need to get it out onto the page for yourself, the insight she shares in this episode is so valuable. I also love following Ally on IG and have pointed my own journaling students towards her book The Power of Writing It Down.
Her new book is called Write Your Story: A Simple Framework to Understand Yourself, Your Story, and Your Purpose in the World and it's out now!

BONUS: 10 Ways To Support A Friend Going Through Crisis or Chronic Hardship
10 Things To Tell You
06/25/24 • 48 min
Since I write and talk about friendship so much, a frequent question comes up around supporting a friend when they are going through something difficult. I think the answer on this can vary, depending on the particular hardship, but my guest today is someone who knows what friends need when their difficult life circumstance is ongoing.
Jessica Patay is the founder of We Are Brave Together, a nonprofit organization that provides respite, community, and resources for mothers caring for children of any age with disabilities, unique needs, or other medical or mental health challenges. She is is passionate about serving caregiving moms and creating authentic communities, and brings 10 tips to the conversation that will help us better support our friends who are caregiving mothers, daughters, partners, and more.
Jessica has also created an anthology for caregiving moms sharing their stories titled Becoming Brave Together: Heroic, Extraordinary Caregiving Stories From Mothers Hidden in Plain Sight

Ep 214: A Friendship Reckoning
10 Things To Tell You
04/04/24 • 71 min
The first story I tell in my book The Life Council: 10 Friends Every Woman Needs is called A Friendship Reckoning. In this chapter, I share about a painful conflict with a friend that almost led to the end of our deep friendship, and how we reconciled with one big, meaningful, conversation in my backyard.
I chose to keep that friend anonymous in the book, but she revealed herself in an episode my Secret Tapes podcast series and I'm airing it publicly here for the first time.
There is so much about this conversation that gets to the heart of what I was trying to convey in The Life Council. We talk about the origin of our friendship, how our friendship styles have changed over the last few years, and, of course, we finally delve into what went wrong that almost led her to ending our friendship, and how we decided to save it together.
The Life Council: 10 Friends Every Woman Needs was released into the world one year ago this month! I'm celebrating that by sharing this beautiful conversation with my dear friend Patty.

Ep 237: How To Look Better In Photos
10 Things To Tell You
09/19/24 • 75 min
This episode is for anyone who has looked at a photo of themselves and wondered if that's what they really look like. Professional photographer Jess Koehler is my guest today as we talk through all the hangups that keep us from taking, sharing, or displaying photos of ourselves, and how we can overcome them.
This is not a typical "tips and tricks" episode (although we do weave tangible and emotional tips throughout). Jess and I are talking about WHY we should document ourselves, maybe even on our hardest days. We're talking about the benefits of having professional photos taken when our camera phones have become so advanced. And, yes, we're sharing all kinds of logistics on taking photos, from finding a professional photographer to using your Apple Watch as a selfie timer.

Ep 207: 10 Tips To Build Your Best Wardrobe
10 Things To Tell You
02/15/24 • 75 min
I always thought that a benefit to getting older was that I would settle into a signature style, but the truth is that my 40s has been sort of a fashion roller coaster. Maybe it's a changing body, maybe the pandemic led to some lazy dressing habits, or maybe our personal style is just always evolving.
Alison Lumbatis is a professional style confidence expert and her tips on social media over the years have been so life-giving to me. (You also might remember her from Ep 134: 10 Tips To Wardrobe Confidence.) In this episode, she is sharing 10 tips for taking stock of your closet and building a functional wardrobe that serves your needs and also makes you look great.

Secret Stuff Sneak Peek: Holiday Mom Victim + Extra Favorite Things
10 Things To Tell You
12/24/22 • 45 min
This is a sneak peek of one of the personal episodes I share monthly over in my membership community Secret Stuff.
In this solo episode, I'm sharing some of my complicated mom thoughts during the holiday season and why I feel outvoted in my own traditions. I'm also sharing some BONUS EXTRA THINGS that I didn't put in the official Favorite Things episode here (Episode 152).
Each month I record AT LEAST one personal episode, in addition to all the other benefits of Secret Stuff: a book club, twice monthly zoom gatherings, and extra podcast episodes like this one with behind the scenes thoughts and info.
The cost for Secret Stuff is $7/month or $84/year
And remember, like all personal episodes on Secret Stuff, this one will self destruct in 3....2....1....
(That's why we call it Secret Stuff - you just gotta be there.)
