In this vibrant episode our host Lena Robinson sits down with Tom Morley, a founding member and drummer of 80's pop band Scritti Politti, who’s now reshaping his creative journey with AI. At 70, Tom's experiences are as dynamic as ever; he shares his reflections on using AI in everything from drumming and visuals to song production. With a background in fine arts and a well-earned reputation as an engaging performer, Tom brings a unique perspective on the intersection of human creativity and AI.
Tom discusses how AI tools like Midjourney and Suno have transformed his creative process, allowing him to experiment with visual art and music in unprecedented ways. Despite initial skepticism, Tom dove into AI, embracing the technology to enhance his work’s reach and resonance. His story touches on fascinating examples, like the AI-generated visuals that captivate audiences at his drumming gigs and his foray into AI-assisted songwriting.
The conversation also explores the essence of creativity in the digital age. Tom emphasises the importance of human touch—the art of “knowing when to stop”—and the role of years of artistic experience in making the most of AI's potential. Together, Lena and Tom unpack the delicate balance between embracing new technology and maintaining artistic integrity, leaving listeners inspired to reflect on how AI might serve their own creative goals.

Embracing AI ‘the Muse’ and redefining collaboration with Anna Cowie
Creatives WithAI™
08/23/24 • 65 min
New host Lena Robinson kicks off with a lively chat with fellow Kiwi and seasoned creative Anna Cowie, who's now making waves from Cambridge. They dive into Anna's eclectic career journey—from her days at Elam Fine Arts School in New Zealand to her evolution into a digital fine artist and senior creative director. The conversation is a fun mix of art, tech, and creativity, with Anna spilling the beans on how she’s always viewed the computer, and more recently, the iPad and Apple Pencil, as just another set of pens, pencils and canvas to play with.
Anna also gets into the nitty-gritty of how AI has worked its way into her studio, not as a rival, but as a muse and collaborator. AI is pushing boundaries, speeding up her creative processes, and adding a new layer of inspiration, all without ever stepping on the toes of her artistic integrity. While AI can add a spark, Anna insists it can't replace the keen eye and emotional depth that only a true artist brings to the table. This episode is a must-listen for anyone curious about how AI and technology is shaking up the art and design world in the best way possible.

Anyway, doesn't matter. We move forward.
I will update them and let everybody know when I've got the sound fixed. Anyway, thanks for your patience. Keep listening and sharing the podcast, and I will speak to everybody soon.
