He was at least six metres tall! With horrible, scary eyes!

How Do You Say That?! - Brad Shaw: The one with the Almost Wet Read!

In this episode of “How do you Say That?!”, Brad Shaw joins Sam and Mark to talk about making corporate reads more fun, being trapped in the rubble of a collapsed building, how some characters make your mouth moist and going back to the 1940s for Vintage news styles.

Our VO question this week is all about staying competitive in an increasingly crowded market.

We’d love you to join in and send us your version of one of the reads in today’s show – just pop it onto an mp3 and send it to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.uk

Script 1

Hello, I’m Professor Dan(ielle) Clever. I lead Energy, Air Pollution and Health Research at the University of Smartville.

Recently, I invented Pollution Vision glasses so that harmful pollution in the air can be

seen.

Together, we are presenting a series of short videos, as we go about our everyday lives,

explaining what pollution is, how it can affect our health, and what we can do to reduce the risks.

So, what is in the air we breathe?

Well, air is mainly composed of oxygen and nitrogen and water... But it also contains pollution, which is a mixture of solid particles and gases that come from vehicle emissions, factories, heating sources, smoke, dust, pollen, and mould for example.

Script 2

Once upon a time, around the turn of the new millennium...

Two Psychologists, Sally and Irene, were intrigued by this new-fangled “internet” thing, and wondered if they could take therapy online to reach more people.

They founded ‘Psychology Today’ and in 2001, launched a website.

In 2009 a Clinical Trial involving 300 patients proved that online therapy was actually more effective than face to face therapy. The results were published in The Lancet......and what happened next changed history!

Jane Hargreaves, Venture Capitalist and more recently leader of the UK Vaccine Taskforce during the COVID Pandemic, had heard about Psychology Online and could see it’s incredible potential to change the future of mental healthcare.

Do you dream of flying to the Moon? If so, you should start training for it now!

First, you need to have a strong body, so exercise every day and develop healthy living habits.

Second, learn about space science and the moon by studying and reading books.

Finally, you should also learn how to pilot a spaceship.

These steps will help make your dream come true.

Script 2

Can’t you just admit you're not ready to make your own choices? look at yourselves! You ended up on the side of the highway in a camping tent that’s missing a pole, you pretty much stole our car, and neither of you have a licence when I last checked, and you had sex - the one rule we had while living under our roof you were not allowed, the one rule. You broke it. This is not good decision making.

The first stage happens at the Welcome Desk – here, the participants are made comfortable and ready to share their stories along with any physical items of wartime heritage they have brought for digitization.

Different parts of the limbic system are located on the medial aspect of the cerebral hemisphere and diencephalon.

Crucial parts of this system include the hippocampus, septal nuclei, parahippocampal and cingulate gyri, hypothalamus, the anterior nucleus of the thalamus, and parts of the amygdala.

In addition, certain parts of the limbic system are vital for memory and learning. For certain specific types of dementia, it’s in this zone that some of the earliest structural pathologic changes may be observed.

Emma Hignett is a former dancer, former radio host, former tv weather girl, and currently a voiceover artist. She is best know as the voice of London's buses, Riverbus, the Overground Train system and bus services outside London including Go North East, East Yorkshire, Midland Classic and Transpora. In 2022 the Elizabeth Line went live in London, and she's thrilled to be the voice used on the capital’s latest underground line. About our guest:

Emma Hignett is a former dancer, former radio host, former tv weather girl, and currently a voiceover artist. She is best know as the voice of London's buses, Riverbus, the Overground Train system and bus services outside London including Go North East, East Yorkshire, Midland Classic and Transpora. In 2022 the Elizabeth Line went live in London, and she's thrilled to be the voice used on the capital’s latest underground line. It all happened thanks to a dancing job in Mexico ... she went out with a Lancashire accent, spent 9 months with a bunch of southerners and came back RP ... or at least able to do RP!
