Marle Esterhuizen: She is an Experienced optometrist, with over 10yeas of Experience. She has great passion and immense interest in pediatric Vision along with bring forth excellent vision care for the entire family. She has lot of experience in fitting special contact lenses for irregular corneas and Myopia. She believes in bringing in an holistic approach in patient care with referrals from other disciplines. She has won sp. award for best clinical skills in 2009 and is also a dyslexia diagnostician and therapist for the Stark Griffith dyslexia academy.
Madale Scheepers:
I am an Optometrist for 16 years, owning my own practice for more than 11
years. I graduated at University of Johannesburg in 2006. I did my post graduate diploma in
sportsvision in 2010 at University of Johannesburg. I am currently busy with my ocular therapeutics course and my passion extends to helping kids with learning disabilities, thus I am a Stark Griffen dyslexia specialist as well.
My passion for optometry started at the young age of 7 years when an optometrist saw that I was born with a congenital cataract – which was removed in 1991. Unfortunately, at the age of 7 years no patching really helped and I am now an “amblyopic, monocular optometrist”. All I ever wanted to do was “changing life’s through vision”! For obvious reasons, I love kids and feel early detection can change their lives, the way mine was changed! I am a proud mom of two beautiful young kids and the wife of my awesome, supporting husband Coenie for more than 10 years!

23 July 2021 marks the historic day when all 193 countries of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever resolution on vision designed to tackle preventable sight loss.
In order to better understand the process, implications and find ways to participate in this movement , I had an opportunity to sit across and chat with Dr. Jude Stern, Head Of Knowledge Management at International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and Dr. Jamie Anderson, from OneSight. Both the organizations are an integral part of the resolution and its future plans.
In this conversation we chat about;
- How did vision come into the forefront of health care
- Role of global organizations and ambassadors throughout the 5year long journey
- Learn how to contribute and participate towards the mission to provide vision care to 1Billion people around the world beyond your clinic.
- Understand how together we aim for Vision for Everyone by Accelerating Action to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
- Learn more about the social media campaign #LoveYourEyes for the world sight day and how you can make it even more special & much more
Along with all the information, learn more about the fun side of these incredible women in our fun game segment "Never HaveI Ever" .
Guest. Bio:

otherwise have access.
Additionally, Jamie has traveled to multiple OneSight sustainable vision
centers globally to offer her expertise as these centers work to provide permanent access to vision care in areas that lack it.
Jamie earned her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University and has her post-doctoral fellowship with The College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
She resides in Oceanside, Oregon with her husband, and has two children.

55. Being a trailblazer with Dr. Alan Glazier
Nerdy Optometrist
" Soren Kierkegaard once said: Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards" Dr. Alan Glazier's favorite quote.
It's always exciting and inspiring to sit across a visionary who is constantly pushing everyone to do better. Dr. Alan Glazier needs no introduction and is surely a trailblazer who has inspired several people in our industry to always try to do something new and different while also giving back to the community.
It was a sheer pleasure and honor to learn more about him as a person above and beyond optometry.
Some of the episode highlights are:
- How he never wanted to join optometry as his father was an optometrist but life had something else planned for him.
- Learn more about his personal story where he turned his biggest challenge into an opportunity.
- Hear some behind the scene stories how he became a social media expert and start the first of its kind optometry TV show on youtube with his FluoreScene media.
- We also dive into his introduction to NFTs and how it will impact the eye care industry.
Along with all of the learnings check out our fun "Rapid Fire segment" to get some interesting insights about our guest.
