Most people don’t know that you’re considered a cancer survivor at the moment of diagnosis. It wasn’t always this way. Sixty years ago, a cancer diagnosis was a death sentence. And if you did survive, you were left to figure out the rest of your life on your own.

But some survivors demanded something different, something better.

This is The Cancer Mavericks, a deep-dive narrative into the people who fought for better treatment, forced doctors to listen, and pushed America to see the human side of the disease.

Episodes of this series will publish monthly through the end of December 2021 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the National Cancer Act of 1971.

This podcast provides you with education, tips, and useful advice. Whether it is you or a loved one, whether you are in treatment or beyond it, we strive to include everyone who has been touched by cancer. Our goal is singular: To help you through whatever struggle you are currently having. We frame it around cancer, but really anyone can benefit. We are two naturopathic physicians with extensive experience in natural medicine and integrative oncology. Leah is the "cancer insider," a designation that we give to anyone who's been diagnosed with cancer. (Much better than "survivor," right?) Tina is the science-y one and enjoys teaching you the "why" of everything. So, tune in, join our community of like-minded folks, and please let us know what you think!
