Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
11/29/23 • 45 min
Hey, soccer fans! Fresh off the contact extensions of front office executives Georg Heitz and Sebastian Pelzer, the Chicago Fire have started making off-season moves. They announced their options on players and even made a signing! Listen as our host breaks down the players that remain on the Men in Red, why they were mostly expected, and how the new transfer in - Tom Barlow, formerly of New York Red Bulls - will affect the roster construction.
Nick also discusses the latest statement from defender Carlos Teran about him wanting to play in Europe, and what would it take for him to be transferred for several millions of dollars. We wrap up this episode with a recap of the MLS Cup Playoffs, and look forward to the conference finals.

FTF Ep. 64 - Is this a joke? Fire hire Klopas ... again.
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
12/06/23 • 27 min
Hey, soccer fans! The Chicago Fire is moving backward as a club after announcing that Frank Klopas will the be next head coach ... again. This is Klopas' fourth or fifth (who can keep track!?) time as the leader of the team, and the hiring is proof that the Chicago Fire as an organization are not prioritizing winning.
Frank brings a mediocre resume to the Fire, with an overall coaching record of just above .500 and a reputation for losing the locker room. Tune in as our host reads the press announcement from the organization and rips apart the statement praising this hire and rips apart the organization.

Barely Believable: Chicago Fire Complete the Comeback against Philadelphia
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
07/04/24 • 39 min
Hey, Fire fans! Can you believe that win against the Union? If I hadn't watched it myself, I might not believe it either. With a sleepy start to the match, trading first half goals, and some sloppy defensive play, the Fire looked to squander another opportunity against the struggling Philadelphia Union. However, energy from second half subs, a Union team that dropped into a defensive shell, and some good luck swung fate in favor of the Men in Red. Tune in for all the emotion, the goals, and the breakdown of the match.
In the second half of the show, our host Nick looks ahead at the Fire's next match, a very winnable fixture against the San Jose Quakes. The Quakes recently fired their head coach and have been the worst team in MLS for most of the season. Their defense bleeds goals, and it's a matchup the Fire attackers will look to exploit.

FTF Ep. 89 - Baby Steps: Chicago Fire Draw DC United
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
05/28/24 • 53 min
Hey, soccer fans! It was a road point in the nation's capital for the beleaguered Men in Red. Yes, the Chicago Fire did just enough to earn a 1-1 draw against DC United and give themselves and their fans a sliver of hope. Defender Carlos Teran successfully held star striker Christian Benteke in check, while Andrew Gutman created opportunities for the visitors - including starting the play that led to Kellyn Acosta's equalizer. Can the Fire turn this into a point streak?
They'll have a mid-week game against a similarly struggling Orlando City side and a weekend matchup with Western Conference power LA Galaxy to test their newfound confidence. In what should be a match between equally desperate teams, Chicago will have the home field advantage against The non-Messi, Florida squad. They will hope to take any momentum into their match vs. the stars of the Galaxy. It could be a big week for the Fire, so tune in and hear what Nick thinks will happen.

Thanksgiving Appetizer - Pelzer, Tata, and Sartini Out
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
11/26/24 • 27 min
Hey, soccer fans! As we get ready to feast for Thanksgiving, tune in to our appetizer show talking aboutteh front office changes for the Chicago Fire and the coaching changes in Miami and Vancouver. Sebastian Pelzer is out as Technical Director but moves full time to a position with FC Lugano - the Fire's sister club in Switzerland. His tenure in Chicago was anything but a success on the pitch, but some of his scouting and networking benefits can still be realized by the Men in Red.
Meanwhile, we learn that Tata Martino's voluntary resignation may have been anything but voluntary as Inter Miami are looking to take their club in a different direction. And in more shocking news, Vanni Sartini has parted ways with the Vancouver Whitecaps after three-and-a-half seasons. Nick breaks down the developments and discusses where each club could go from here.

FTF Ep. 92 - Win Streak! Chicago Fire Win Back-to-Back Matches
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
06/18/24 • 46 min
Hey, soccer fans! What a weekend to be a Fire fan! The Men in Red put on their best performance of the season picking apart their rivals from north of the border. Chicago dismantled the Toronto defense on their way to a 4-1 victory. This means the Chicago Fire are on a 4 game point streak and a 2 game win streak! We’re back, baby! (Ok, we’re still in 11th place, but 11th place never felt so good!) Join our host as he recaps the victory, relives the goals, and breaks down the stats.
In the second half, Nick previews the Fire’s next match: an away-day to Orlando City. The Lions have been underwhelming this season, to say the least. Though they’ve had a lot of success against Chicago in recent seasons - and a draw at Soldier Field just a few weeks ago - the two teams seem to be heading in opposite directions. In fact, Nick likes the Fire to keep climbing up the standings and predicts another victory. Tune in to hear how he thinks they get it done on the road again.
We also check in on the USMNT’s preparation for Copa America, hear about Aiden Morris’ new deal, and take listener questions. All this and more on Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast.

FTF Ep. 14 - What did we just watch? Fire Flat vs. DC United
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
04/03/23 • 33 min
Hey, Fire fans! What did we just watch? I wish I could say the Chicago Fire's flat play vs. DC United was a bad April Fool's joke, but sadly it's a result of an anemic offense, a defense barely holding it together, and a head coach unable to adjust/adapt over the course of a game...or a season...or his career (TBD).
In today's show, our host looks at the offensive woes and how the team is operating on the slimmest of margins for error. Defensively, the team got lucky that Taxi Fountas and Christian Benteke had off-games, otherwise this could've been a 3-0 route at home. (And defense is supposed to be their strength!) Finally, Nick breaks down Fire manager Ezra Hendrickson's post-game comments, revealing that Ezra literally doesn't have the answers.

A Mess in Miami: Fire Lose 2-1 to the Herons
Feed the Fire: A Chicago Fire Podcast
07/23/24 • 51 min
Hey, soccer fans! The Chicago Fire took a trip to South Beach to face a Messi-less Inter Miami team but could not come back with a win. The Men in Red continue to play lethargic, uninspiring soccer, and fall to the Herons 2-1. Our host does not hold back in his criticism of the players and coaching staff, and gives his live reactions to Manager Frank Klopas' post-game comments.
In the second half of the show, Nick discusses headlines from the Chicago Fire organization - a Fan-First Guarantee if Messi doesn't play in Chicago and news on the new training center - as well as discussing the latest big MLS outgoing transfer. Caleb Wiley of Atlanta United has been transferred to Chelsea for a reported $11 million transfer fee.
