Who am I?

36 year old neurodiverse father of 3. Husband. Youth corrections officer. Podcast creator/host. Fierce mental health advocate. A man? Talking about his feelings openly, honestly & unashamedly? But it's 2023! How dare he! 😂 #feelingishealing

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

I am a late term ADHD and Autistic dad from country Australia. I spent a large part of my life living in a cloud of shame for feeling so deeply but just not possessing the ability to stay silent. Now I'm a podcast host and I discuss all things parenting and mental health and how the two often crash together in such a way that you don't want to look but you can't look away.

What is my podcast playlist about?

A mixture of happy, sad, honest and vulnerable podcasts that I've either been a guest on or just generally enjoy listening to.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. round table MINDSET

Why this podcast?

Mahlon and Jamie butt head a bit in this thought provoking and entertaining podcast. Their points of view differ drastically from ep to ep but you can tell their friendship is incredibly strong and their ability to bounce back is truly a testament to the type of people they are.

2. Carter from The Touched Out Podcast

Why this podcast?

I was lucky enough to have Bekah and Bryan on my podcast and honoured to be a guest on theirs. The similarities discovered between the life of Bryan (pun kind of intended) and myself shines through and I think it's quite rare to be able to witness a strong and caring friendship form between 3 people in such a fast but authentic way.

3. How Other Dads Dad with Hamish Blake

Why this podcast?

Aussie radio royalty chats with other prominent Australian fathers about all things dadding. A feel good, light hearted podcast that doesn't shy away from jovially discussing some pretty nitty gritty topics.

Hamish Blake chats with other dads he really admires (and whose phone number he had relatively easy access to) about their approach to dadding, and in the process hopefully learn a little, steal some of their hard earned wisdom and help us all dad a tiny bit better.

4. Everyday Parents: A Day-in-the-Life Podcast

Why this podcast?

Another podcast I was lucky enough to guest on. A day in the life of parents from all walks of life is great to listen to when you are feeling a little alone or isolated and it's a nice warm hug to remind you that just because you feel alone, doesn't mean you are alone.

5. Touched Out

Why this podcast?

Adding my own podcast to the list might be frowned upon but bear with me as I have good reason. Not only do I believe in my mission, my creation and myself but the Touched Out podcast isn't just mine. It's existence would not be possible without every single amazing and brave guest I have had the absolute honour of speaking to. For a podcast that has only been alive since mid Feb 23 I have had guests from various locations all over the world and one thing is apparent in each episode... Discussing mental health openly, honestly and without fear of judgement is paramount to creating change in a society that still isn't quite where it needs to be. With 12 episodes and a special mini mothers day episode currently released my guests and I cover an insanely large amount of ground from complex mental health diagnoses to autism, adhd, birth trauma, childhood trauma, suicide, divorce, shaken baby syndrome and countless other hard but healthy topics discussed. I am incredibly proud of the community we have created together and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for my podcasting journey!
