The best podcasts about history with twists and tales familiar and unknown.

Who am I?

I have always been fascinated by history ever since I realized fairy tales might have real life counterparts and not just some story. I immediately became obsessed with learning what is real and what is not and what might inspire the way we live today. Because I love to hear stories about people a little more off the beaten path. Something a little familiar but takes a whole different twist or sheds new insight into a subject, situation, or person.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

As The Money Burns reconstructs the Great Depression through the experiences the wealthy. I follow five main young heirs and heiresses to famous fortunes and what happened at this stage of their lives and to those around them. This gives us a chance to re-examine a familiar era through a new lens and reconsider what we thought we knew both about history as well as about having large amounts of wealth. The perils and complications and how things were viewed back then and how we view and might handle similar situations today.

What is my podcast playlist about?

History podcasts that take interesting takes on familiar with new angles or relatively unknown stories. History is so much more than basic politics and war. Endlessly fascinating in what we can learn from the past that can be relevant today. From recurring scenarios to the basics of human nature.

4. Noble Blood

Why this podcast?

What better way than to tie a broad range of history together than to begin with the end in sight. 5. Ye Olde Crime

Why this podcast?

Of course true crime always gets attention, but what about all those past stories way back when. It is not only the modern world that has some mysterious, interesting, and sometimes bizarre stories behind multiple crimes. Adventure into the not so far distant past pre-1900 but one definitely without our modern sleuthing technologies and see what you can figure out. Not always murder, but always interesting. Episodes include Pirate Queen Grace of Malley, the Dahomey Amazons, and the Pendle Witches with a dangerous family feud among other interesting tales…
