Podcaster Q&A
Tell us about yourself – what is your background?
I am a UK obstetrician who has spent thirty years working for the NHS . I am especially interested in improving women’s experience of maternity care.
Why did you get into podcasting?
I love to talk I always have! Someone told me podcasting was easy to do and a good way of reaching a diverse and younger audience. A great way of making health advice and information accessible so I just went for it.
How did the idea for the show come about?
After the idea got sparked I almost immediately had the idea for the name. I also listened to a podcast on how to make a podcast to prepare. I had been thinking about it for about 4months then lockdown happened in 2020 and it seemed like the perfect time to give it a try.
What do you hope listeners take from the show?
I hope it’s a good resource for expectant parents and health professionals alike. I also hope it makes obstetricians seem human and like the sort of person you could do and chat to for advice rather than being apprehensive about meeting
What's been the biggest challenge for you?
I am not a very tech person so teaching myself how to do things is a bit hit and miss. Once I randomly recorded at the wrong speed so I sounded like I had a squeaky voice as if I had inhaled helium from a balloon. Then as I record from home there is alway the doorbell going or the dog barking!
How can your listeners support your show?
I would love people to spread the word and recommend my show to others who may be interested. Also writing a review or tagging me on social media. Lastly you can also visit my buy me a coffee page
Any future plans that you'd like to share?
Nothing special just keeping going
Anything else you'd like to share?
I love podcasting , it’s a very rewarding sideline / hobby . If people enjoy my show they can also listen to my TEDx talk Birth should be special
