Tell us about yourself – what is your background?
Once upon a time, I was actually working in corporate America. But then I became a journalist. The topic I report on is shame — and everyone/everything that is affected by it.
Why did you get into podcasting?
I love the feeling I get when I listen to podcasts. It's like the host is with me in my kitchen when I'm cooking or in my living room while I'm cleaning up. Because my journalism can touch on really vulnerable topics, I thought the intimacy of audio was a perfect match.
How did the idea for the show come about?
There's a gap between generations of queer people: the old and the young. "But We Loved" is a podcast made to bridge that gap.
What do you hope listeners take from the show?
LGBTQ+ history is not tragic. It's stacked full of breathtaking stories of courage, perseverance, and love.
