Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

I'm Sue Stockdale, and in 1996, I became the first UK woman to ski to the Magnetic North Pole, something I never imagined was possible. It made me realise that we can all achieve amazing things, but we often just need some inspiration to get started. That was the seed of the idea behind Access to Inspiration podcast.

Why did you get into podcasting?

Today, the world faces many challenges, and people need inspiration to believe they can have a positive impact. The glorification of celebrities portrays a narrow, and often unrealistic, view of what people should aspire to. I wanted to use a podcast to share stories of people, who are inspiring but whose stories are not always told.

How did the idea for the show come about?

As an executive coach for over 20 years I have heard lots of inspiring stories from people I've worked with. And so I wanted to create a platform to share more widely inspiring stories so that more people realise that we are all inspirational, and by creating space for people to shine and tell their stories, it can inspire others to do the same.

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

We hope they get away from their day to day challenges for a moment, and gain new perspective on life, and then consider new possibilities and try new things.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

Finding time to fit in the podcasting whilst also running a business!

How can your listeners support your show?

They can help us to spread the word about the podcast, by telling more people about it and recommending episodes to listen to.

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

We have just partnered with the Royal Scottish Geographical Society to produce a series on Climate Solutions, with fascinating guests to learn from.
