Imam Omar Suleiman is the Founder and President of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research and a professor of Islamic Studies at Southern Methodist University. He’s also the resident scholar of the Valley Ranch Islamic Center, and Co-Chair of Faith Forward Dallas at Thanks-Giving Square, a multi-faith alliance for peace and justice. Originally from New Orleans, LA, he began his journey of traditional Islamic learning in the year 2000 and has spent years studying in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Malaysia, etc. Upon becoming certified in various traditional sciences, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic law, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a Master’s degree in Islamic Finance, a Master’s Degree in Political History, and is in the process of completing his PhD from the International Islamic University of Malaysia in Islamic Thought and Civilization. His career started in his hometown of New Orleans where he served as the Imam of the Jefferson Muslim Association in New Orleans for 6 years and directed the ICNA Relief “Muslims for Humanity” Hurricane Katrina Relief effort. It was in this time that he was noted on a national level as being a strong advocate of community service, interfaith dialogue, and social justice. He co-founded the East Jefferson Interfaith Clergy Association and was awarded for his outstanding civic achievement by the Mayor and City Council of New Orleans in 2010. He then moved to Dallas and became the Resident Scholar of the Valley Ranch Islamic Center in 2013 and more recently, Co-Chair of Faith Forward Dallas at Thanks-Giving Square. In Dallas, he has been a noted leader and voice for peace, and has partaken as a representative of the Muslim Community in many city functions. He has since been a guest at various national functions to share his experiences in community building. Shaykh Omar most recently founded the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research which is a think tank that focuses on instilling conviction based on Islamic texts, and producing contribution. He also founded M.U.H.S.E.N (Muslims Understanding and Helping Special Education Needs), a nonprofit umbrella organization serving the community to establish a more inclusive “Special Friendly” environment for our Brothers & Sisters of all Disabilities.

Ahmed Deedat was a prominent South African Islamic preacher, writer, and public speaker known for his work in the field of comparative religion. Born on July 1, 1918, in Surat, India, Deedat moved to South Africa at a young age. He grew up in a challenging environment, and despite limited formal education, he became an influential figure in Islamic apologetics and interfaith dialogue. Deedat’s career in public speaking began in the early 1950s when he was inspired by Christian missionary activities in his region. He felt compelled to respond to what he perceived as attacks on Islam. He started delivering lectures and debates on Christianity and Islam, focusing on the Bible and the Quran. His engaging speaking style and deep knowledge of both religious texts attracted large audiences. One of Deedat’s most notable contributions was founding the Islamic Propagation Centre International (IPCI) in Durban, South Africa, in 1957. The IPCI aimed to disseminate Islamic teachings and promote understanding between Muslims and people of other faiths. Deedat wrote numerous booklets and books, including “The Choice: Islam and Christianity” and “Is the Bible God’s Word?”, which became widely popular. Deedat’s debates with Christian evangelists, such as Pastor Stanley Sjoberg, Dr. Anis Shorrosh, and Dr. Robert Douglas, gained international attention. His debates were often marked by their rigorous intellectual exchange and Deedat’s charismatic presentation style. These debates were recorded and distributed globally, further enhancing his influence. Despite facing health challenges later in life, including a severe stroke in 1996 that left him paralyzed and unable to speak, Deedat’s legacy continued through his writings, recorded debates, and the ongoing work of the IPCI. Ahmed Deedat passed away on August 8, 2005, but his impact on Islamic apologetics and interfaith dialogue remains significant. His efforts to promote understanding and defend Islam have left a lasting legacy in the Muslim world and beyond.

He has been in the field of Da’wah delivering regular khutbas and a public speaker locally and abroad for the past 26 years. He is internationally known and is invited to guest speak and lecture regularly through various organisations internationally and nationally as much as his time permits. Sheikh Belal was born in Melbourne Australia, and currently resides there.

Muhammad Tim Humble is from Newcastle & graduated from the famous faculty of hadeeth and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Madinah in 2011. Ustadh Tim Humble is a British revert, who has ijaza in the six famous books of hadeeth. He is also experienced in the field of Ruqyah, the Islamic method of healing with the Quran, specializing in treatment for black magic and evil eye. He accepted Islam at the age of 14 & is currently involved with a dawah organisation called IDC North East which is based in & around Newcastle. Tim Humble became interested in Islam during Religious Education classes in Primary School. After researching it further on the internet he accepted Islam at the age of 14. Thereafter he went through a period of 4-5 years where he struggled to implement and practice his new-found faith. The Muslim community in his hometown was unwelcoming and unhelpful to New Muslims. In his own words, “One of the biggest problems we have in the Ummah is that we are excellent at selling the religion; we’re great salesmen...What we’re really, really rubbish at is keeping them in Islam once they become Muslim.” A suggestion by a friend sparked the idea of studying in the Islamic University of Madinah. During his first Hajj pilgrimage he applied to and was accepted into the University. He graduated from the Faculty of Hadeeth Studies in 2011. Notably he memorized and is certified in the six canonical works of hadeeth. He is currently involved with a Da’wah organisation called ‘IDC North East’ which is based in & around Newcastle. The Ustadh is married with 3 kids & is the founder of Humble Foundation.
