The Hall Closet Podcast is true crime like you've never heard it before - told from the inside. I grew up in the 1980's and 90's in a lower tier crime family outside of Philadelphia. We weren’t the Corleone’s, but we made national headlines! My mom – Phyllis - went from flirting with criminality to actually sleeping with it. She spent 6 months in prison for child endangerment. My stepdad – John Hall – was the Philadelphia PD’s favorite snitch. By the time he was done, he’d insert my family into two of Philly’s biggest unsolved murders, put an innocent man on Death Row for 24 years and his own stepson in prison for a murder he didn't commit. You have never heard a story like this before - and it's all absolutely true! But, more than just true crime, The Hall Closet also is a story of personal survival and a search for safety. What's really inside The Hall Closet? Empowerment!

We all agree that being prepared for an emergency is important. That's why preparing a "Bug Out Bag" that will allow you can grab and go can be a lifesaver. So I began posting information here over 6 years ago, and I'm updating that information regularly. I've also gone beyond the traditional products. Because creating "the bag" is just the first step to being prepared, not the final product. We now know we each need to have at least 30 days of essential supplies like food water and medicine. We must be our own first responders.
I cover topics like:
*Products I both use and trust.
*Often forgotten items you need to have in your bag.
*Psychological and Emotional planning for the family
*Planning for Kids and Seniors
*What to do when Plan "A" fails?
This includes a curated list of links from a variety of sources too. I'll be sharing and updating links to sites I buy from and products I use. So we are clear, I have no sponsors, so the opinions, both good and bad, are my own.
Join me as I begin the 7th year/6th season of productions in an ongoing series of podcasts for you and your family to use and to share with others as you build a community. Is this fun or what?

Inspectacast is THE podcast for the insurance risk control industry and specifically field loss control and risk management. We'll also cover more diverse, insurance related topics of interest to anyone, not just industry insiders. Inspectacast is sponsored by Preferred Reports. Expect all new shows to start in early 2025 with frequent posts. We'll also be adding InspectaCast to Medium and YouTube soon. Be sure to check out the older posts because they all have information relevant to risk intelligence today.
InspectaCast: Insider Insights You Can't Get Anywhere Else
At InspectaCast, we aim to provide the insider details that formal classes can't offer. You need insights from someone who's been in the business, and Tom is the ultimate insider. With years of experience running his own business and contracting with companies to provide risk control services, he's got the knowledge you need.
"I want to help others achieve what I did—make a living while having the freedom to set my own schedule and provide the services I want. There's no playbook or easy-to-understand business plan for success in this hidden area of the insurance business. The companies you contract with can't provide training, and there are few formal programs to certify you for this work." - Tom
Tom LeGros has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. As a risk control consultant and independent adjuster, he's visited thousands of companies, from small single-owner businesses to multinational corporations.
Ten years ago, Tom joined a group of like-minded entrepreneurs to launch Preferred Reports. In just ten years, Preferred Reports has grown from five employees to over 100, becoming the largest insurance risk intelligence provider to the insurance industry in the country. They offer both physical and virtual inspections on commercial and residential risks across all lines of coverage, in all 50 states.
Tom holds a BS in History and an MS in Management from Excelsior College in Albany, NY. He also earned his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) credential from The Institutes and an Accredited Claims Adjuster designation from the University of Central Florida. Before entering the insurance sector, Tom served as a medic in public, private, and fire EMS, holding multiple certifications in emergency medical services, public safety, and investigations. He's also a graduate of the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.
