The Economist’s Sue-Lin Wong follows a trail that starts with the collapse of a bank in rural Kansas to uncover a global, underground scam economy built around human trafficking, corruption and money laundering. Can it be stopped?

After 20 years of war, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan ended in chaos at an airfield in Kabul. Thousands of Afghans who worked with the American soldiers as translators, interpreters and partners made it onto U.S. military planes. But despite the decades-long efforts of veterans, lawmakers and senior leaders in the military, even more were left behind. Now they live in hiding from the Taliban.
From Lawfare and Goat Rodeo, this is Allies. A podcast about America’s eyes and ears over 20 years of war in Afghanistan. This show will take you from the frontlines of the war to the halls of Congress to find out: How did this happen?
For anyone needing help or advice relating to relocation and resettlement from Afghanistan, the independent Evacuate Our Allies Coalition staffs a operations center 7 days a week that can be reached at:
Email: [email protected]
Phone: +1 (213) 358-7953 (live Monday - Friday, 7am - 7pm PT; Saturday & Sunday 9am - 5pm PT)

Historian and broadcaster Professor Adam Smith explores the America of today through the lens of the past. Is America - as Abraham Lincoln once claimed - the last best hope of Earth?
Produced by Oxford University’s world-leading Rothermere American Institute, each story-filled episode looks at the US from the outside in – delving into the political events, conflicts, speeches and songs that have shaped and embodied the soul of a nation.
From the bloody battlefields of Gettysburg to fake news and gun control, Professor Smith takes you back in time (and sometimes on location) to uncover fresh insights and commentary from award-winning academics and prominent public figures.
Join us as we ask: what does the US stand for – and what does this mean for us all?

During WWII, Lt. John Low, Jr, was shot down over Occupied Holland. He spent 11 months evading capture due to the selfless efforts of the Dutch Underground. “After a 96-hour war, Holland capitulated to Germany in May of 1940, but while the Dutch Government was forced to lay down its arms in the face of Hitler’s mighty armies, the people and underground fought on until they witnessed the defeat of this enemy.”-John Low, JrThanks to Swing Republic for the opening music. Two Brits (more specifically Englishmen) now living in America discuss the nuances of two nations seperated by the Atlantic Ocean.
There is no limit to the nature of the subjects that are up for discussion.
Culture, food, sports, travel, beer, monarchy, politics, language, plus tons more, will be debated and analyzed (aka. analysed).
Fasten your seat belts, be tolerant, understanding, and have a laugh or two or three.
The added benefit of listening to this podcast for our American friends is that if you travel across the pond, you will be able to hit the ground running and fit right in with the local cuture, and be language fluent (sort of).
