Who am I?

Planty Planty Zoo Zoo is a chaotic and fun wildlife podcast hosted by environmental communicators Connor Davies and Stephanie Martin. In each episode, Connor introduces one species of animal and Steph introduces one species of plant to an imaginary zoo & botanical gardens called Planty Planty Zoo Zoo. The hosts share interesting facts about their species, plus talk about any conservation issues that they face out in the wild and how humans and organisations may be helping. They also share how they would show off their plants and animals in Planty Planty Zoo Zoo (the sky’s the limit!). The aim of Planty Planty Zoo Zoo podcast is to share knowledge of the natural world in a fun and entertaining way to engage people with the wonders of wildlife. The more we all care about the environment, the more can be done to protect it! Connor works on the education team at Bristol Zoo Project and is heavily involved in various projects aimed at getting young people more involved in decision-making when it comes to nature. He is animal- and zoo-obsessed, and is slowly filling his and Steph’s home with an unholy amount of animal-themed decor. Check him out on Instagram at https://Instagram.com/connorljd and on Twitter at https://twitter.com/connorljd. Steph is a freelance environmental communicator working in writing, editing, content creation, events, and more. She adores rainforests and even had a Master’s degree in their ecology! She is slowly turning her and Connor’s home into a jungle with her well-established plant collection. Check out her website at www.stephintonature.com or find her on Instagram at https://Instagram.com/stephinto.nature and on Twitter at https://Twitter.com/stephintonature. Episodes are released every fortnight on the Thursday. The podcast covers topics like wildlife conservation, the cultural and medicinal importance of different plant species, and the zoos and botanical gardens that are doing great things around the world. Planty Planty Zoo Zoo podcast often welcomes guests, from wildlife TV presenters Nick Baker and Lucy Lapwing to National Geographic photographer Matt Doogue and plenty more! Not only do they introduce a plant or animal species to Planty Planty Zoo Zoo, but they are also interviewed for their dream job at a zoo & botanical gardens (because imaginary zoos and gardens need imaginary staff). So you get to hear all about their work experience, how they got to where they are now, as well as hear them talk about their favourite animal or plant! You can check out our website at www.plantyplantyzoozoo.com. You can also find us on Instagram at https://Instagram.com/plantyplantyzoozoo and on Twitter at https://Twitter.com/plantyplantyzoo Follow us here on Goodpods and on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or any other platform where you normally get your podcasts. If you enjoy the podcast, then please leave us a rating or review, and don’t forget to share your favourite episodes with friends! Both Connor and Steph work for wildlife conservation organisations and care deeply about preserving the natural world. Not just for humans to enjoy or because humans directly benefit from nature, but simply because it has a right to exist. Connor works with a variety of nature organisations to get young people involved in protecting the environment. He has volunteered extensively for wildlife organisations and works to create more diverse and inclusive workplaces for people in environmental fields. He has worked closely with animals at different zoos and contributed to their care. Steph has undertaken scientific research around the world, from the rainforests of Borneo, Australia, and the Amazon to the dry deciduous forests of Madagascar and the rural lands or Spain. She has studied rare tree species and looked at how climate change may impact tropical rainforests in the future. For these reasons we chose to create a podcast based on what we know and love: nature, wildlife, animals, plants, and conservation. Plus, we figured we spend so much time chatting about plants and animals at home, we may as well record it! We hope that our podcast gets you more interested in the natural world and introduces you to something new, whether that be a strange bird, an unusual plant, or a conservation story that you had no idea was unfolding. And very importantly, we hope that you are entertained! Follow us here on Goodpods and explore our episodes to get a taste of what our podcast can offer you in terms of fun and knowledge!
