Who am I?

I'm an experienced and award-winning creative producer across all aspects of media, including podcasts, radio, tv, and video. I've worked in media for more than 30 years and great stories well told are still what drives me. I particularly love the audio medium for how it allows you to go anywhere and explore anything through imaginative writing and sound design. I don't always get it right, but I have a lot of fun trying. I think it's more appropriate to say this subject chose me. When the Australian Federal Police approached my company to create a podcast highlighting the work of it's recently opened Centre to Counter Child Exploitation, it opened my eyes to a world I had previously heard about it but quickly realised I had no knowledge in. Thanks to the 60 people I spoke to for the Closing The Net podcast, I began to grasp what a terrible underbelly exists in the world that are deriving pleasure out of preying on innocent children, exploiting them and at times their families. It set me on a path of educating myself and others about the importance of doing all we can as a society to keep our kids safe online.

What is my podcast playlist about?

This podcast playlist aims to highlight the incredible work being done by men and women around the globe in the fight against online child sexual predators. It's not the cheeriest of topics, I know, but it's something we all have to be aware of. We need to stop burying our heads in the sand and start speaking up about this awful crime type that ruins the lives of millions the world over.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Closing The Net

Why this podcast?

This is a great podcast that explores the world of those policing the borderless crime of online child sexual exploitation, their commitment to preventing abuse through education, and their dedication to seeking justice for the victims. The series gives you and an understanding of what constitutes online exploitation and how easily children can be targeted. Importantly, it provides information on how to better protect kids online, as well as how to identify and report offensive online behaviour. The series also takes you inside the world of those on the frontline - women and men who dedicate their lives to ending this horrendous crime type and who work tirelessly to find and bring online child sex offenders to justice.
