The best podcasts for Northeast Wisconsin locals #1/x

Who am I?

I live in Appleton, WI and I love where I live! I helped start a local podcasting group called the Appleton Podcast Co-op. We meet up for a pint every month to talk about podcasting: what we're listening to, production challenges, and general shenanigans. All the folks who make the podcasts I've personally connected over a drink (or guested on the show!).

What is my podcast playlist about?

This is a curated list of all the independent podcast creators making podcast about Oshkosh to Green Bay and the surrounding areas. While there are more local podcasters, the ones listed here all focus on local topics, whether it's true crime or local issues. All are made with care right here in Northeast Wisconsin <3. *There are more so I might make another list another time!

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Fox Cities Murder & Mayhem

Why this podcast?

Gavin is a local historian at the Kaukauna Public Library. He's a great researcher and host. Alongside his childhood friend, Eric, they take you through true crime from before our time. Focusing on older murders and mayhem from old local newspapers and more.

Wisconsin has had it's fair share of notorious criminals that have been in the spotlight over the years, but what about bizarre crimes and mayhem that have vanished over time? Join author Gavin Schmitt and Eric Wulterkens as they take you through stories of crimes that were once front page news. Gavin will share crimes from his book "Fox Cities Murder & Mayhem" as well as those that have never been shared by him before. If you're a fan of true crime who is tired of hearing about the same murders over and over, then you'll definitely like this podcast. And as listeners from the Wisconsin Fox Cities have said, some of these stories (such as the Appleton Butcher episode) have brought back memories of when they first heard about the cases as children. Not from Wisconsin? Don't worry, no knowledge of Wisconsin is necessary to enjoy these episodes.
