Who am I?

I'm MommaFoxFire, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a single mom, mental health advocate, full-time proposal manager in the AEC industry, podcast/live show host, content creator and variety gamer. I've had many ups and downs in life, which led me to raising awareness about mental health topics as an advocate. In my "down time" I run a live show called Even Tacos Fall Apart, a mental health-focused talk show and podcast, along with the FoxFam community and social media that has been built up around ETFA. My goal is to build a space where folks can share information, stories, resources and laughs. I put in the work to open up conversations and provide our community members and podcast guests the grace and space to work through and own their own shit in their own time. I have dealt with depression (PPD & MDD), anxiety, and C-PTSD from an emotionally abusive marriage. I also believe that if the stigma around mental health were minimized or eliminated altogether that my grandfather, who went missing in 2017 and either died to suicide or was murdered, would still be alive today. Now I do my best to encourage honesty and provide emotionally functional support as I raise my two kids as a single mom! I have a 10 year old who has Tourette Syndrome and a 17 year old who is transgender and struggles with anxiety, and living in Texas we just do our best to get by with all the politics and real dangers that come along with being different these days.

5.0

Depression affects more than 375,000,000 worldwide. So, if you don't have it yourself, you know someone who does. Giving Voice to Depression was founded to start discussions that reduce stigma and promote understanding. We look at depression from many angles. Terry McGuire, a journalist with depression interviews a guest each week about their experience of depression. Some have episodes, others live with the mood disorder chronically. All share things that do and do not help their mental-health management. After the pre-produced/edited guest's story, Terry and cohost/licensed therapist Dr. Anita Sanz comment on the issues presented. The episodes are informative, hopeful and seldom depressing. It's time to shine some light on depression's darkness! Join us.
