Who am I?

I've hosted and co-hosted (and appeared on) so many podcasts, if you called me a serial podcaster you wouldn't be wrong! I've been in the podcasting space for over 10 years, and has the scars to prove it. I'm the Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.fm, the podcast hosting, distribution, analytics, and monetization platform for the serious indie podcaster. I live in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with my wife and two kids, where I spend winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when I find time away from podcasting, of course... Podcasting is a huge part of my life, both professionally and personally, and one of the things I love most about it is the genuine sense of community. With very few exceptions, everyone genuinely wants to help each other grow and be better. Because of this, there are some amazing podcasters doing great stuff when it comes to helping others with their podcasts, from newcomers to veterans alike. Whether that's super short tips to build a library of knowledge on the art of podcasting, or more technical to help with the ins and outs of hardware, software, etc, these podcasters are helping others fall in love with the medium too. That's why I love this industry - when one podcaster grows, we all do.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

There are some great podcasts, by even greater podcasters, that share tips and insights on being a better podcaster, and some of these are on this list. This can range from marketing and growth, to equipment and working with sponsors, and more. Each podcaster that I've listened to, and who have helped me grow, have brought a wealth of knowledge, and have let me go as deep as I want when it comes to learning. For my show One Minute Podcast Tips, I wanted to do something a little different. Given how finite all our time is when it comes to how we spend our days, each episode offers a specific tip - editing, legal side of podcasting, how many ads to have, perfect episode length, etc. But here's the difference - each tip is only one minute long, or less. This makes them short, punchy soundbites that you can binge on in one sitting, or add to your end of day listening before switching off for the day. Simply choose the tips that you're curious about and enjoy! And if there's a tip you want to hear about, let me know via voice message on the site (where you can also support the show with a one-off donation if you want!). https://oneminutepodcasttips.com/

What is my podcast playlist about?

Each podcast included in this playlist brings you the very best podcast tips to be a better podcaster. Every podcaster brings something different, whether they're a newer podcaster or industry veteran, and hopefully gives you the tips and insights you need to grow as a podcaster, and your show along with that.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. In & Around Podcasting

Why this podcast?

We love podcast industry podcasts - there are a lot of them and they're run by smart, passionate people who live and breathe podcasting and who are usually industry professionals. Sometimes though, they don't give the day-to-day enthusiast, creator or indie podcaster a platform to have their say, often taking "the view from the top" as delivered by the "podcasting professionals". In & Around Podcasting has been designed to respect and live alongside those shows and to be an accessible, inclusive podcast for every single podcaster; a show that allows everyone with an interest in the medium to have a fair, open and transparent view on the podcasting industry and how it affects them - this is your place to be heard. Disclaimer: I'm co-host of this podcast.
