As Editor at Large of CNET Personal Finance, multi-bestselling Financial Author, former CNBC host, and creator of the Webby-nominated podcast So Money, Farnoosh Torabi has become one of the country's favorite go-to money experts. The New York Times calls her advice, "perfectly practical.”

This week’s story is one I had the opportunity to share back in 2021 and I wanted to share it again as the story of money is vital at any stage of life. The story of women in money, well that’s an even bigger story that needs to be told.

Learning to skillfully navigate emotions means you’re able to fully dive into emotions – even intense emotions – and still act with integrity. You act from your highest values, rather than reacting impulsively to the emotion.

Div Manickam has spent a few years navigating the emotional journey and learning that there are more emotions than just crying. She’s learning how to accept the now, be fully present, and not worry about the past or the future (things I don’t control).

Div has realized she was getting overwhelmed with everything that’s coming in the next few months. So, she’s beginning to understand the importance of taking it one step at a time.

Watch the video version of Div’s story on YouTube.

What's Your Story? - story #45 - intuition based communication
play

11/03/23 • 31 min

It’s obvious why someone might be tempted to turn to a communicator in order to talk to their beloved animal, even if that person is otherwise reasonable. It’s terribly hard to share a life with a close friend with whom you are unable to speak. It would be nice to find out, at least, a few basic things. Are they okay? Are they happy? Do they like you? Would they have rather had the green giraffe toy with a squeaky butt, or are they okay with the purple elephant toy with the squeaky trunk? Do they feel safe? Do they know how much you love them? Are they happy? Are they happy? Please, god, just tell me this—are they happy?

Jennifer Etzwiler, our storyteller this week, had those same questions and not only wanted those answers for herself, but she wanted to provide those answers for others who had lost a dear pet.

Katie Russell’s daughter died when she was just 12 hours old in April 2021. She was a perfectly healthy, beautiful baby, she died due to failings in health care services. Katie's mental health was severely impacted by grief and PTSD after a traumatic birth.

This impacted the pregnancy with her son significantly. She now works hard to help support others through child and baby loss sharing her grief story to help others know they are not alone.

Now, before we dive into this emotionally charged conversation, let's take a moment to express gratitude for the precious gift of life, even in its most fleeting forms. Remember, my dear listeners, you are not alone. In sharing these stories, we hope to create a space where healing can begin, and where love and compassion can light the way.

I'm honored to have you with me as we explore the depths of grief, the strength to endure, and the power of telling our stories.
