075:This Isn't Happening
Undermine
10/26/20 • 64 min
Fall 2000 was a tumultuous time — politics were dividing the country, the internet was advancing faster than society could keep up, and the recording industry was undergoing major change. We take another look at this time through the lens of another band, Radiohead. Steven Hyden, author of a great book “This isn’t Happening” about Radiohead’s revolutionary album “Kid A” which came out in October 2000, joins Tom for a discussion which covers Phish, Radiohead and everything in between.

Steven Hyden co-hosts an Osiris podcast of his own about the Grateful Dead called 36 From the Vault.

059:Pink Talking Cal Kehoe
Undermine
12/15/19 • 52 min
Cal Kehoe, guitarist for Pink Talking Fish, talks music with Tom. The two met exactly 10 years ago, and have written three songs together and shared a stage at a Phish after show during the Bakers Dozen in 2017. Listen to Cal discuss PTF and the method and philosophy behind covering three bands.
There's a lot of music in this podcast. "Anthony" from Sonic Boom Studios in Raritan NJ is mentioned several times...but not his last name for some reason...sorry Anthony KRIZAN!!! Anthony and Tom and Cal have written and recorded together.
Those songs along with a lot of Pink Talking Fish are played. Tom and Cal's song Limbo is discussed and played in its entirety at the end of the show.
(BTW...yes, we know that it's actually "Sheep" and not "Dogs".)

S4E4: 7/25/92 — Shelly Culbertson
Undermine
09/26/22 • 39 min
In this episode, we keep moving through 1992 and look at one of the most notable shows of the early years—7/25/92, which has an incredible guest appearance by Carlos Santana and his percussionists.
Our guest for this episode is Shelly Culbertson, who worked with former manager John Paluska and Dionysian Productions. Shelly was involved with the early online Phish community, and was the driving force behind Phish Tickets By Mail (PTBM). We talk with Shelly about the growth Phish experienced in these years, and how this tour opening for Santana poured more fuel on the fire for the band’s growth. The Santana sit-in on You Enjoy Myself is must-hear, but the whole set is essential early Phish.
