That's an actual value of mine.
It'll all become clear if you listen.
The Fiat 500!I drive a Fiat 500.
My mom calls it a roller skate.

"When we forgive ourselves, and we just add it to the list fresh, and it becomes a new task for us, we actually do give ourselves that dopamine when we get it accomplished..." - Katie McManus, Brave Business Coaching
This is the episode for ADHD entrepreneurs who don't show themselves any self compassion!
Accessibility: click to read a written-to-be-read transcript of the episode
ADHD people need a little more self compassionIn this episode, I'll be talking about self-compassion, which is often difficult for individuals with ADHD.
The reason being that throughout our lives, we've been told that we're not doing things the right way, that we're not paying attention enough, and our work isn't good enough.
All of this negative self-talk makes it hard for you to be kind to yourself as an ADHD entrepreneur.
I'm going to shares my personal experience of how my inner child is still affected by the experiences of my childhood and how easy it is to recognise it in others.
Why is self-compassion difficult for individuals with ADHD?Growing up, we've heard negative messages that have created a harsh inner critic. This self-talk leads to us punishing ourselves when we miss self-imposed deadlines, which are often arbitrary and associated with failure.
ADHD and OvercompensationIndividuals with ADHD have to overcompensate in many ways to function in traditional systems such as schools and jobs.
This creates a higher standard that we hold ourselves to, which results in us not allowing ourselves to screw up.
However, we have never-ending compassion for other people who make mistakes.
Nobody said we aren't 'interesting', us folks with ADHD! 😂😂
The Playground IncidentIf you have kids, I hope you listen to this episode, because you need to be aware of the challenges they're already facing which will potentially shape their adult struggles.
You have to hear what I witnessed this week from a local Philidelphia school teacher!
This episode that's all about ADHD self compassion, covers:- The episode discusses how ADHD entrepreneurs struggle with self-compassion, which is difficult for them to access.
- People with ADHD have been told throughout their lives that they are doing it wrong, not paying attention, or not good enough, which affects their self-talk.
- ADHD entrepreneurs tend to hold themselves to a higher standard than others, despite having never-ending compassion for others who screw up or miss deadlines.
- The pressure to overcompensate and function within systems that do not work for them results in this need to be better, and it makes self-compassion impossible for them.

The episode also looks at how people with ADHD must overcompensate in order to function in traditional systems, resulting in unrealistic self-imposed standards that are difficult to meet.
Ultimately, this episode serves to help individuals with ADHD practice self-compassion and understand that everyone makes mistakes.

Challenges of the ADHD MarketerI also talk about the specific challenges that people with ADHD face when it comes to marketing their services.
One of the biggest roadblocks is that there's often no immediate feedback when marketing services. And boy, do us ADHD folk LOVE immediate feedback.
Or if the feedback is there. it's minimal.
Usually just a like, or an emoji.
This can be hella difficult for those of us who really want a lot of engagement on social media posts!

Chasing Clients and Chasing LeadsI stress that it's important not to get stuck chasing likes.

Launching a digital productGetting a digital product out to market can have its own set of unique challenges, as there are a number of different elements that need to be considered and coordinated in order to ensure a successful launch.
Some key considerations for launching a digital product include:
- Technical development: This includes the development and testing of the actual product, such as a website or app, to ensure that it is functional and user-friendly.
- Marketing and promotion: This includes creating a marketing plan and promotional materials, such as landing pages, email campaigns, and social media posts, to attract and convert potential customers.
- Customer support: This includes setting up a system for providing customer support before and after the launch, such as a help center or live chat feature.
- Payment processing: This includes setting up a system for processing payments, such as integrating with a payment gateway or creating a shopping cart.
Some of the absolute nightmare scenarios that can arise when launching a digital product include:
- Technical issues: This can include problems with the website or app, such as bugs or errors, that prevent customers from using the product.
- Payment processing issues: This can include problems with the payment gateway or shopping cart, such as errors or security breaches, that prevent customers from purchasing the product.
- Lack of customer support: This can include a lack of a help center or live chat feature that makes it difficult for customers to get help or find answers to their questions.
- Poor marketing and promotion: This can include a lack of a clear and compelling message, or the failure to reach the right audience, that makes it difficult to attract and convert potential customers.
- No demand: This can include finding out that there is not a market for the product you created, after investing time and resources in development, promotion and marketing
It's these last two we're going to look at in this episode and with a particular focus on when you have ADHD!

We’ll explore how to make sure your body is getting the nourishment it needs to keep up with the demands of living with ADHD.
We’ll also talk about the potential dangers of alcohol, the importance of getting enough rest, and the power of having a good support system in place.
This episode is inspired by a true story about my beloved dog Luna! This week I'll tell you the story of Luna, my beloved dog who had always been full of energy and life, but one day last week suddenly fell ill.
In an effort to help her, her human drove her to the vet and was surprised to find that the medications given had had no effect.
After hours of tests, it quickly became clear that Luna needed to be treated in an ICU - and as her human I was there every step of the way.
But I was a wreck as you can imagine.
However, I was less of a wreck because I was able to function as a normal human, thanks to the systems I'm sharing with you in this episode.
The unique skills and credibility we have thanks to our 'past lives'When it comes to self-care for those living with ADHD, nourishment is key.

"And it's also super challenging for us when we're trying to build a consistent visibility calendar on social media because talking about our businesses is super exciting in the beginning, and then it gets old and stale!" - Katie McManus, Brave Business Coaching
Look, we all know we need to be more visible and consistently showing up on social media if we want to grow our businesses, right?
But it's not always easy for entrepreneurs with ADHD who may get bored talking about the same thing all the time.
It's important to remember that variety is important for those with ADHD in both hobbies and relationships.
While it's necessary to make people aware of what your business does, it's not the only thing you should talk about on social media.
And you absolutely should ignore those people on LinkedIn who tell you "this isn't Facebook!" anytime you post something personal.
Watch a promo video for the episode that's going to help you get more visible on social media! After all, we're not all about work all the time in the real world, are we?
(I mean some of us might be. But everybody needs a little down time now and then!)
It's okay to show your personality and share things about your life on social media as long as it's relevant to your business in some way.
As I explain in this episode, it can be really helpful to think back to when you were a child and the ways you would connect with your new friends and show off the things you were interested in.

37 Weenie! Cuz 75 Hard Challenge rules and ADHD don't mix!

01/01/23 • 22 min
"In knowing that we can be consistent for short periods of time and not long periods of time like we set that expectation for, it actually opens the door for us to make this really super fun!" - Katie McManus, Brave Business Coaching
This is a seriously difficult time of year for people like us, who have ADHD.
We're all about setting those goals right now. And so we're fantasizing all about those rocking hot bodies and hard abs we'll be showing off after we've completed the 75 Hard challenge.
But here's the sad thing.
The 75 Hard challenge rules don't work for us neurodivergent peeps.
Here's the episode you need to listen to if you want to do an ADHD entrepreneur friendly version of 75 Hard.
Welcome to 37 Weenie!
Watch a promo video for the episode that's setting you the 37 Weenie Challenge! Why the 75 Hard challenge rules don't work for ADHD peopleIn case you've not heard of it, the "75 Hard challenge" is a fitness and personal development program that involves completing specific tasks for 75 consecutive days.
While the challenge can be effective for some people, it may not be the best choice for those with ADHD!
One reason the 75 Hard challenge rules may not work for people with ADHD is that they require a high level of discipline and consistent effort over an extended period of time.
This can be a challenge for anyone, but it can be especially difficult for those with ADHD, who may struggle with impulsivity and difficulty focusing.
Additionally, the 75 Hard challenge involves a strict set of rules and tasks that must be followed, which may not allow for flexibility or customization based on individual needs and preferences.
This can be frustrating for those with ADHD, who may benefit from more structure and support in order to stay on track.
It's important to remember that everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.
You, my darling weenie, need to find what works best for you and your unique needs and challenges.

The benefits of long habit forming challengesHabit-forming challenges, such as the 75 Hard challenge, can be beneficial for runners and writers who do not have ADHD because they can help establish consistent patterns of behavior that can lead to long-term success.
For runners, a habit-forming challenge can help them build up their endurance and strength over time, allowing them to gradually increase the distance and intensity of their training.
This can help them reach their goals, whether it's running a marathon or simply improving their overall fitness.
For writers, a habit-forming challenge can help them establish a daily writing routine, which can be crucial for producing high-quality work.
Writing every day can help writers develop their skills, generate new ideas, and improve their discipline and focus.
Overall, habit-forming challenges can be a valuable tool for anyone looking to make lasting changes in their lives.
By requiring consistent effort over an extended period of time, these challenges can help individuals build new habits and achieve their goals.
But, once again, we have ADHD.
So we need to go another way.

The two 'flavors' of silenceThe ADHD brain can be both a blessing and a curse, particularly when it comes to work.
For some individuals with ADHD, the presence of other people can actually help them focus and be productive.
In this episode, we explore the two flavors of silence that exist for ADHD individuals and why co-working can be a challenge for them.
There are two types of silence that ADHD individuals experience when trying to work: the "ADHD flavor" and the "I don't give a f***" flavor.
The former is similar to a library setting where everyone must be quiet, making it difficult for ADHD individuals to focus since they cannot decipher what others are saying.
On the other hand, the latter is like being in a bar during happy hour, with loud music and people speaking loudly.
Weirdly, as we explain in this episode, ADHD individuals can still get a lot of work done in that setting.
The weird thing that happens in the ADHD brainThere's something funny that happens for ADHD people when they're around others. They tend to do really good work when surrounded by people, which she attributes to the idea of "mirroring" or "parallel work." When they see others in their area, they feel cocooned by them, allowing them to focus on their tasks.
This episode that's all about ADHD office space sharing, covers:- The two flavors of silence in the ADHD brain.
