On Wednesday, at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training complex, I caught up with the mighty Harry Kewell, now a coach for the Glasgow giants.

When you think of Harry, you picture a footballer of elegance, intelligence, lethal effectiveness. And the great Leeds United side he played in was his perfect domain, surrounded by formidable talents such as Alan Smith, Lee Bowyer, Gary Kelly, Mark Viduka, Michael Bridges, Robbie Keane, Robbie Fowler and not least David Batty. Yet for all their sophistication, those men would battle it out in training – with regular flare-ups, and be willing to go to war for each other come Saturday.

Both Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola will be remembered as two of the all-time Champions League icons. And yet both have a love-hate relationship with the 'Cup with the Big Ears' - climaxing with last year's meeting between the two teams who drew in the first leg of their semi-final rematch last night.

Here, for ESPNFC, is my story on the ingredients that make this tie a distillation of the very best of this wonderful competition.

Napoli’s Serie A triumph put me in mind of my chat with their former centre-half Federico Fernandez, who himself tasted glory in the sky blue. The Argentine reminisces on scoring a double against Bayern Munich, winning the Coppa Italia and how the craziest of football cities still belongs to Diego Armando Maradona.

Since José Luis Mendilibar took over at Sevilla at the trough of a crisis, they are unbeaten, and have taken down Manchester United, Valencia and Villareall. They have done so amid a spate of injuries and suspension and at a time when the entire city is in the middle of a massive, three-week party that culminates with the traditional Feria D’Avril.

Here’s how the Saboteur of Sevilla is doing it – but first, more news of the issue of racism in LaLiga stadia, and its highest-profile victim, Vinicius Junior.
