The second episode from our Link Up season was with a good friend of the show, Jeff Talmey, Co-Founder of Town Brewery. Jeff was one of the first people we approached about being part of the Link Up launch series of collaboration beers, and he jumped at the opportunity. Jeff hung out with Tiff and Cee to chat about why he got involved in Link Up, we ran through the beer Town produced, the challenges involved in diversifying the craft beer industry (and in the Durham region specifically), the DEI initiatives Town have had in the past, and why it's important to truly involve the community in their space. To launch Link Up, we've collaborated with 6 partner breweries for 6 amazing beers over 6 weeks in August and September 2021, starting with one of the leaders in giving back in Canadian craft beer, Dominion City. Co-Founder Josh McJannett and CFO Stephane Joachim joined Tiffany and Cee to discuss their Link Up beer, why they got involved, why diversity is important to them, how having a diverse team has helped them get to where they are today and why they've continued to be so community-focused. It's been quite the run for the live Quarantine Edition of our ongoing Adjunct Series, and tonight, we wrapped it up with a bang. Longtime followers would know that our trip to Virginia in 2019 was a memorable one, where we travelled for a week from the northern part of the state all the way down to Virginia Beach, and we truly loved our experience. One thing we've been missing during the pandemic is those fire Virginia beers, so we were stoked to hang out with the boys behind Virginia Beer Co.

Based in Williamsburg, VA, Robby Willey and Chris Smith opened Virginia Beer Co. back in March of 2016, and they recently celebrated their 5th anniversary. This episode was special for a few reasons - not only was it the wrap-up for the Quarantine Edition, but at midnight it was Chris's birthday, and the Montreal Canadiens won their series against Las Vegas to enter the NHL finals for the Stanley Cup in the middle of the episode, so there were a lot of fireworks, chanting and honking. The fellas chatted about their beginnings in craft beer, the trials and tribulations of finding their location, their approach to the beers they brew, Chris's brother's illustrious NHL career, Team Money vs Team Funny, and a ton more. We crushed four spectacular brews - Provisional Kölsch, Liquid Escape (tart ale with Australian sea salt and lemongrass), Deadbolt DIPA and a wild Brett farmhouse ale, Cellar Circus (Blend No. 006). We finally made it to the Sunshine State. For our first ever podcast with a Florida brewery, we hung out with Kevin Abbott, the conveniently named gentleman behind the Belgian-inspired brewery, Barrel of Monks. Cee hung out with Kevin for an insightful chat about their unique origins, the beauty that is Belgian beers, the challenges of being a brewery in Florida back when it wasn't poppin', how they expanded beyond their European beginnings, the craft beer scene in Florida today, the qualities of a pastry stout, bottles vs cans, and a lot more. They crushed Single In Havana (blonde ale with guava), The Wizard (Belgian White), Three Fates (Tripel) and Sweet & Sticky (dessert stout). This was a great one - cheers!
