So put down that paint fan and let’s dive in for some no-nonsense, totally actionable advice that'll help your design biz thrive and keep your sanity intact.

Hosted by business coach Rebecca West, an interior designer with nearly two decades of experience running her residential interior design firm Seriously Happy Homes. She’s obsessed with costume parties, cat videos, and - oh yah - raising the standards for professional interior design services.
I mean... we’re flooring people, from an outlet store basically, and it looks to us like just figuring our how to pick the right floor is daunting at best. In your life, you’ll do it less often than you’ll buy cars, and that’s a pretty taxing thing to do. So we’re trying to start from scratch and be as basic and clear as we can about doing this, so you can find what you want, wherever you end up shopping.
We’ll have regular episodes, chats between Dan (who owns the company) and me (I’m David – just your host, though I’ve done my research on flooring too). Where relevant, I’ll pop some mini-episodes in between those, basically reading any articles we’ve written going into more details on the big topic. We’ll try to title these so you can easily get to the ones that matter to you and skip the others (if you don’t want ceramic tile, why listen to a piece on ceramic tile? You’ve already got enough to consider).

Every homeowner has some fears about the remodeling industry. Just about every homeowner considering a remodeling project is nervous. They hear horror stories from their neighbors and friends about damage to homes, contractors taking deposits and never showing up, and even being sued by injured employees! That, in conjunction with the multitude of bad reviews on websites like Yelp and Google, makes the words “scary story” and “remodeling” practically synonymous. It does not have to be like this. Education is the key to a great remodeling experience!
Join Dave and Brenda Bryan, veterans of the industry and owners of the successful and highly-respected design/build remodeling company Blackdog Builders, as they guide you through what you need to know when pulling together a remodeling project. Dave and Brenda will dive into the often confusing, misleading, and downright stressful world of residential remodeling. Whether you want to learn how to select the right project, or what flooring works best in a kitchen, or how to choose the right contractor to work with, or have absolutely no idea where to start, this is the podcast for you. It will be fun, informative, and save you time and money!
