A podcast about how and why gentrification happens. Season 3, produced in partnership with WLRN, Miami’s public radio station, introduces us to “climate gentrification,” reporting about the ways climate change, and our adaption to it, may seriously intensify the affordable housing crisis in many cities. In many parts of the US, black communities were pushed to low-lying flood prone areas. As Nadege Green reports, in Miami, the opposite is true. Black communities were built on high elevation away from the coast. Now because of sea level rise that high land is in demand. In March 2022 cancer stole my 18 year old son Milo from me, my wife Alana, and my older son Max. We eventually began compiling a list of Things Milo Loved. We have opened the document to many people who knew and loved Milo and it now includes more than a thousand items. We figured that we could share the spirit of this list with an even wider audience by using it as the basis for a podcast about Milo. The result is this podcast, Milo Time. On this podcast, my super-talented co-host Lisa Cohen and I highlight some of Milo's favorite things; those things help us all keep our amazing Milo in our hearts, on our minds, and on the tips of our tongues. Special thanks to the artistic genius Lacie Foreht for the remarkable graphic cover art.

talkPOPc (Philosophers' Ontological Party club), is public philosophy + cognitively-engaged art nonprofit founded by Dr. Dena Shottenkirk, who is both a philosopher and an artist. As a topic-based project (we are now on our fourth) talkPOPc sponsors one-to-one conversations between a participant and a philosopher (who always dons our amazing gold African king hat, along with our mascot Puppet!) These conversations are consensus-building conversations and feed back into Shottenkirk's related artworks and published philosophy. The conversations become collaborative acts of making both philosophy and art. Thus, each topic - #1. nominalism, #2. censorship, #3. art as cognition, and #4 power - has three "pillars" the associated artworks, the published philosophy book, and podcast conversations. Various philosophers participate (see our website talkpopc.org for the list of philosophers) and these conversations happen in various places. For example, we go into bars and have one-to-one conversations. We sit down next to the deli counter and hold a conversation with someone who has walked in to get a ham sandwich and walked out knowing so much more about their own thoughts. We go into the MDC prison in Brooklyn and have conversations. We set up in galleries where the artworks and the philosophy are also displayed. And we listen. Here are some of those conversations.
Change happens when people talk.

So what's it like when two new working parents in Brooklyn can take a 12-week parental leave together (again)? We both love our careers and work to share parenting as equally as we can, starting off with shared parental leave. We are Adrienne and Christian, and had our first baby, Rasmus, in November 2017. Once our parental leave kicked off, we started posting a new episode each week, and we invite you along for the ride. Now for season 2, we're having a second child, with the added twist of birth smack dab in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic. Questions for us? Hi! I'm Kate! I'm a pilates instructor based in Brooklyn. I love movement, and sharing my practice with you. Recently I've been featured in Katie Couric's Wake-Up Call, and The Evening Standard's Insider 'The best free New York and Los Angeles boutique fitness studio workouts on Instagram'. I'm excited to share my practice over podcast! I've studied both classical and contemporary Pilates, and am proud to continue my Pilates education at every opportunity. I teach group classes, privates, corporate wellness, both virtually and in studio. My specialties include pre and postnatal fitness, Pilates for runners, hernias and diastasis, low back and knee injuries, and various neurological conditions. Let's move and be well.
