Created by Michael Adams, author of The Murder Squad and Hanging Ned Kelly, Forgotten Australia delves deep into bloody crimes, dark histories, unsolved mysteries, eccentric personalities and bizarre happenings that are almost always stranger than fiction. Each episode brings to life people and events that were once known to everyone but are now barely remembered by anyone. Based on intensive original research, Forgotten Australia is crafted with a novelist’s eye for character and detail to create gripping narratives that sound so fresh it's like they're ripped from today's headlines. This is the history you wish you’d been taught in school.

Emigration to Australia has had a transformative affect upon Simon. On January 1st 2019 he, his Australian wife and three children arrived in the land down under. They upped sticks and travelled from Hertfordshire, Blighty to reside on The Gold Coast, Queensland.

The cultural shock caused Simon to slip into an alcoholic stupor for a whole year from which he has recently come to. However, an imposing and eccentric alter ego seems to have taken over. Convinced he is on a mission from the crown to win back the former colony of Australia, Simon's alter ego will stop at nothing to reach his goal.

Follow his trials, triumphs and many adversities in the weekly dispatches back to Blighty.

This podcast series is about Australia’s relations with and response to the world from the late 19th Century to the present. It focuses on the historical, cultural, ideological, economic and strategic factors shaping the government’s foreign and defence policies. It looks first at historical themes that still have a bearing on Australia in the contemporary world, then moves on to discuss how Australian politicians and policymakers have reacted to and acted in periods of war and stress, crisis and creativity, hope and delusion. It looks at the role of prime ministers, individual ministers and political parties, the globalising economy, trade, immigration and debates over alliances, Asia, and national loyalty. Written and presented by Professor James Curran from the University of Sydney (Discipline of History) , who is also the International Editor at The Australian Financial Review.
