Now into their 5th year, and receiving high accolades from several different podcast review sites, Same Difference has quickly become the go-to Jazz podcast for good (and fun) analysis of all your favorite Jazz standards. Each episode, AJ and Johnny pick a standard, then listen to and discuss several different versions, including a "New-To-Us Artist" who may very well be new on the Jazz scene. They've had an array of special guests on the show, including Jazz and Musicology scholars, noted Jazz critics and reviewers, and some excellent Jazz musicians. Best of all, AJ and Johnny have been friends since their college days (40 years and counting!), and have been attending Jazz festivals together since the 80's. Their love of Jazz coupled with their own unique stories make for one very entertaining podcast!

It chronicles the journey of iconic jazz/R&B artist Sheba Hawkins's rise from obscurity to superstardom, and the music she created along the way. Narrated by Grammy award winning producer Monroe Jones, and based on the music of Kandace Springs, "My Name Is Sheba" is a different kind of story.

Sneakers 54 was established in 1976 when a group of friends got together after deciding they had to do something about the lack of good West end clubs that played Jazz,Funk & Soul music. They found that in order to gain entry into clubs they would need to dress in suits, pay extortionate entrance fees, and then have to listen to pop music for hours until the DJ decided to play the odd Soul or Jazz tune at the end of the night.

Their next move was to hire venues in the West End and hold their own club nights playing the music we loved. The nights became more regular and soon built up a following that had been looking for the same things; they wanted to listen and dance to the best in Jazz, Funk & Soul in a friendly and safe environment. They decided to name themselves "Sneakers 54" after the classic Jazz-Funk track by Sea Level , the one track which closely resembled the spectrum of music they most enjoy and play at their club nights.... And they still believe ........it's all about the vinyl !

This is a sample of the music they played; If you enjoy any of the music played here, please support the artists and buy their music ...As without them we have no music !......Thanks for listening !

'Lift The Bandstand' is Wednesday evening Jazz on CJSW. The show is hosted by Gordon Hilton Fick. Gordon has been with CJSW since June of 1995. Most weeks, 'Lift The Bandstand' has a specific theme. The theme might be based around the compositions and performances by a specific artist. Sometimes an entire show is devoted to a single composition and the varied interpretations of that tune. The show title 'Lift The Bandstand' comes from a Steve Lacy quote: 'When I used to work with Monk, he used to say, "Let's lift the bandstand". That's magic, man, when the bandstand levitates. I didn't know how to do it but I knew what he was talking about. Old dreams but they're still valid.' (Steve Lacy interviewed by Brian Case for The Wire no. 1, summer 1982) The film 'Lift The Bandstand' is a documentary produced by Peter L. Bull. The film is a portrait of the music and career of Steve Lacy, as told to us in his own words and in performances of his music. The one-hour film features two performances by the Steve Lacy Sextet, a solo performance by Lacy, and rare archival footage of such Jazz legends as Sidney Bechet, John Coltrane, Gil Evans and Thelonious Monk - all important influences on Lacy's music. These elements are interwoven with interviews in which the articulate Mr. Lacy makes wryly-humorous observations about the ups and downs of his career and traces his musical influences.
