The best podcasts for Police Officers

Who am I?

I’m a police chaplain in Kansas City; I ride with the officers, spend time in the station, and get deployed to homicides, suicides, and accidents. I do counseling with them and try my best to encourage them. I see the difficult and traumatic experiences my officers face And how little support they receive. After 25 years of helping first responders, I’m still eager to give encouragement and guidance in regard to their careers, families, and health.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

I don’t expect a brand new 21 year old police officer to talk to the chaplain, in fact some grumpy and surly 45 year old officers won’t talk to the chaplain either. But they might listen to the chaplain talk to other cops from the LAPD to Scotland Yard. So I made the Hey Chaplain podcast.

What is my podcast playlist about?

Finding encouragement, wisdom, and support in the law enforcement life. This list is comprised of a sampling of shows I actually listen to.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Hey Chaplain: The Police Wellness Podcast

Why this podcast?

Listen to cops (and other experts in the larger first responder world) who want to share their wisdom so that you don’t have to learn the hard way.

On Hey Chaplain you'll hear from dispatchers and federal agents, Sheriffs and US Marshals, as well as local detectives and patrolmen. From the LAPD to Scotland Yard, the guests on Hey Chaplain deliver advice and insights so that police officers everywhere can survive and thrive. The host, Jared Altic, has almost 30 years of experience serving and counseling military and law enforcement families. The show looks at both the humorous and traumatic sides of police life, sharing wisdom to create healthy cops both at work and at home. New podcast episodes about police life and chaplaincy are available on first, third, and fifth Mondays of each month. Look for occasional special bonus episodes! Who approaches the scene first risking their lives for the safety of others? We do. The blue canaries, law enforcement. We allow others to tell our stories. It's time for us to tell our own stories. Blue Canary is a show for cops by a cop, retired Captain Steven Kellams. In each episode, Steve goes behind the scenes of a police department. Giving you real-world insight into why decisions are made, what obstacles are ahead, and how the answers to your questions aren’t always found in the news. It’s unfiltered, it’s relevant and it’s for anyone brave enough to wear a badge.
