The best podcasts for me, personally, to listen to.

Who am I?

I'm an introvert, so my "passions and excitement" is a lot different than most, generally speaking. I am a voice actor and narrator, a sometime community theater actor, and a podcast host for a show where I narrate old, almost forgotten stories. Books and stories have always been a passion for me, so it's not surprising where I find myself in the world of podcasting. I enjoy several kinds of music, but my personal favorites are 40s Big Band, 40s and 50s crooner-style music, four-part harmony singing, and jazzy instrumentals. If I get a chance, I love doing some karaoke where I bust out my favorite Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Brian Setzer Orchestra or Bobby Darin tracks. Yeah, I'm a bit of a throwback. I like to say that the subject chose me, it's been a strong passion of mine since I was very young, apparently. One of my first fixations when it came to reading books was when I discovered The Hardy Boys mystery series. I read every single one that I could get my hands on. As I grew older I discovered the Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective and The Three Investigators series. About 20 years ago I discovered the cozy mystery genre, and I've been a fan ever since. So on my podcast, it's quite fitting indeed that I narrate one of the original American detective series ever written - The Nick Carter mysteries written around the late 1800's. While delving into the history of Nick Carter, I discovered the little remembered history of the Dime Novel, Story Paper and Pulp Magazine, and have found myself falling down a rabbit hole on this subject, which I love to share with my listening audience.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

As an audiobook narrator, I want to stay in practice, and so I decided that I would find old public domain stories to read aloud on a podcast. It's been just over a year since I started and I have a very small, but loyal following around the world. Each week I record two chapters in the latest story I found, and continue until the story ends. Then I find another story to read and record two chapters each week again. It's kind of fun! That has absolutely nothing to do with the playlist topic, since those two things are completely unrelated. The playlist is basically the few favorite shows that I listen to, and trying to build more awareness for them.

What is my podcast playlist about?

These are just the few shows that I have time to listen to. I'm very selective as an introvert to whatever I choose to focus my energy on. These shows have made the cut. That's it.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Madison On The Air

Why this podcast?

What's not to love? A modern day girl gets zapped somehow into old radio dramas from the past and interjects into the storyline juxtaposed cultural norms? Hilarious!
