Who am I?

My mission is to educate, encourage, and empower others through important conversations with scholars, librarians, and community leaders. Together we explore the professional environments where our guests operate, providing a valuable glimpse into the trends, opportunities – and sometimes the pitfalls – of modern academic and professional life. My journey into history was born of a fascination with mysteries and questions that, with the help of a little historical research, we might be able to untangle. Several years and a successful run through grad school later—and it is my privilege to wonder, to study, and to write about history every day!

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

All told, the Modern Scholar podcast exists as a compelling stage, turning the spotlight on talented individuals doing great work and hopefully inspiring others to forge their own futures as modern scholars, librarians, and community leaders.

Why this podcast?

Through Civics & Coffee, Alycia offers fascinating, bite-sized explorations of history, perfectly timed to enjoy with your morning coffee! One of the best features, in my book, is that Alycia will often produce episodes focused on a listener request—which is awesome!
