Who am I?

I am a lifelong music obsessive, raised on The Beatles (and Pete Seeger, Miriam Makeba, and AM radio). After years of studying music and being in bands, I came to realize that my true gifts are as a listener and communicator about music. Aside from my family, music has been the most important thing to me. It’s always there to help you discover new things about yourself, bring you closer to others, and help you learn about the world.

What is my podcast playlist about?

Just as I try to be a filter for others looking for music, I appreciate podcasts that can do the same for me.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. TAK Editions Podcast

Why this podcast?

Tak Ensemble is one of the most adventurous and expert new music groups out there, collaborating with loving composers to bring their visions to stunning life.

Conversations with composers and other musicians working in the vibrant new music community of New York City and beyond. Episodes are curated by and often feature members of TAK, an ambitious ensemble that “impresses with the organicity of their sound, their dynamism and virtuosity — and, well, just a dash of IDGAF as they slay the thorniest material like it’s nothing” (WQXR).

2. Sound Opinions

Why this podcast?

Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot are longtime music journalists who keep their ears to the ground, mostly for rock, pop, and hip hop. Everyone’s a critic, including me when I disagree with them - but that’s part of the fun!
