Who am I?

Paul Levinson, PhD, is Professor at Fordham University. His science fiction novels include The Silk Code (winner of the Locus Award for Best First Science Fiction Novel of 1999), The Consciousness Plague, The Pixel Eye, Borrowed Tides, The Plot to Save Socrates, Unburning Alexandria, and Chronica. His novelette “The Chronology Protection Case” was made into a short film and is on Amazon Prime Video. His alternate history story about The Beatles, "It's Real Life," was made into a radio play, available on Audible. His novelette, “Robinson Calculator,” will be published in the Robots Through the Ages anthology in July 2023. His nonfiction books, including The Soft Edge, Digital McLuhan, and New New Media, have been translated into 15 languages. He has appeared on CBS, CNN, MSNBC, the History Channel, and NPR. His 1972 album, Twice Upon A Rhyme, was re-issued in Japan and Korea in 2008, and in the U. K. in 2010. His first new album since 1972, Welcome Up: Songs of Space and Time, was released by Old Bear Records and Light in the Attic Records in 2020. I've loved The Beatles since I first saw and heard them on The Jack Parr show and The Edison Sullivan Show in New York City in the early 1960s. In 2022, I published "It's Real Life," an alternate history story about The Beatles. It was made into a radio play in 2023. I wrote an article, "The Beatles and Podcasts," which will be published in July 2023 in the Journal of Beatles Studies. This "Best of" list is derived from the many podcast I listened to before I wrote that article.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My Light On Light Through podcast is primarily about science fiction on television, but from time to time I talk about music, especially The Beatles, and also play music from concerts and radio appearances.

What is my podcast playlist about?

My playlist is about podcasts which delve into the many facets of The Beatles music and lives. No other band or musical artist has defined and triumphed in so many genres.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Things We Said Today Beatles Radio Show

Why this podcast?

First, this is a perfect title for any podcast that talks about The Beatles. And the three musical pros -- Ken Michaels, Allan Kozinn, and Darren Devivo -- who do the talking do a bang-up job of reflecting on the myriad treasures that The Beatles bring to the ears.

5. We Don't Believe in Beatles

Why this podcast?

The title of this podcast of course comes from one of John Lennon's most caustic post-Beatles songs, and features three guys I never heard of, who are pretty caustic but funny about everything they say.
