The best podcasts about Music for GenXers

Who am I?

I'm a semi-retired musician, now burying my ears in new music trying to find songs that don't suck. I'm a father of two teen daughters who keep me on my toes with music and life, and I work in the tech industry. Music is my life... it's a daily affirmation. I've been singing since I was 3, drumming since I was 10, and absolutely despising new music since I "got old" apparently.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

My podcast is called Songs That Don't Suck, and each week I listen to 100s of new songs so you don't have to suffer! I'll share the best of what I find and hopefully, together, we can build a music-sharing community like the ones we had when we were kids.

What is my podcast playlist about?

New music isn't the only thing I'm interested in, I love the classics too! These podcasts are the best ones I've found for laughs and deep thoughts around some of my favorite songs and artist

The podcasts I picked and why

But whether you want to jump back to the Clinton years or join us as we reboot our old iPods, you can find all of the collected works of Rob Harvilla below. Come back each Wednesday for a new episode.

Why this podcast?

These guys are hilarious... and they are from Cleveland. This podcast is where music and science collide to figure out which artists from the past killed rock-n-roll. It's science, so don't try it at home.

Why this podcast?

If there is one thing I love it is debate about music, and this trio of playlist debaters bring it every episode.

One topic. Three playlists. YOU decide who’s best! Playlist Wars offers a fresh take on music commentary, pitting one mainstream music fan (co-host Alex Gomez) against one full-blown music fanatic (co-host Brian Colburn) along with one special guest. Every episode is focused on an artist, band or theme, with each person creating an individual 10-song playlist that they feel best represents the topic. Listeners then vote to decide which panel member “got it right.” Let the battle begin! 👊🏼
