The best podcasts to binge while sick in bed.

Who am I?

I am a TV Producer by day and Podcast host and Producer by night. I currently have 3 active shows with another 2 coming in 2025! I am just getting over a vicious stomach bug that had me laid up in bed for days so I was able to catch up on a lot of my favourite shows.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Each season myself and cohost Kevin Brown take an artist's discography (or part of) and break down each track on an album on the criteria of Music/Lyrics/Production assigning the categories a score out of 10/10/5. At the end of the season each album has a grade out of 100 and the highest graded record is deemed the winner of the Ultimate Catalogue Clash!

What is my podcast playlist about?

These are my favourite shows to binge, hosts are always entertaining and engaging. I love loading up my player que with these shows while I'm driving or sick in bed.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Pod of Thunder

Why this podcast?

The recognized symbol of excellence in rock and roll podcasting! This has always been my go to show and the show that inspired me to get into podcasting. 580+ shows later and Chris, Andy and Nick are still going strong, an absolute must listen for any music fan!

Andy Jones, Nick Jones and Chris Lathrop command you to kneel before whatever you use to listen to rock music podcasts and soak up the banter!
Since 2013, this trio of KISS fans representing multiple generations analyzed every song from the band’s catalog, selected randomly from their 1974 debut through their most recent release, Monster. Now, they’re taking on songs by any band from any rock music genre, submitted by the show’s listeners.
So hear their words and take heed as they slowly rob you of your virgin soul! Who knows – Pod of Thunder might just become your favorite rock and roll podcast (if it hasn’t already)!

2. Seaside Pod Review (A Queen Podcast)

Why this podcast?

I love Queen but it's the hosts that make this appointment listening for me. Kevin and Randy are two great guys with excellent banter who always have a great time breaking down these songs even when they aren't so great (Delilah I'm looking at you). Great for Queen fans and fans of music and quirky Canadian banter in general!

Kev and Randy take to the mics once a week to talk about a song from the catalogue of the enigmatic, brilliant, and sometimes flawed rock legends Queen. Each week a song will be chosen at random so that the boys won't know what track they'll be reviewing. Kev comes into the podcast as a Queen afficionado, while Randy is a more casual fan, but has a huge wealth of knowledge about recording, performing, and music in general. At the end of each episode, both will either upvote or downvote the song and we'll take to social media to see what the listeners think!

3. SeanGeek and FastFret Podcast

Why this podcast?

This is a show like no other...one week the topic could be Marvel movies, the next it's an episode of their heavy metal show Metal Shoppe, the next it's the proper way to use a cell phone. These Winnipeg boys talk about everything and anything and I'm here for all of it! Again it's the chemistry between the guys (and there should be tons, they are brothers) that make this one for me, I love the randomness of it and it's equally great when they have guests on as well, highly recommend!

Although SeanGeek and FastFret might be the names on the Podcast, the show also veers off into other territories including Breaking, Geeking out with Karen Bee, and the Metal Shoppe (featuring Alex the Temp).

4. HaskinCast Podcast

Why this podcast?

Scott Haskin can do it all, he's an author, composer and podcaster of the highest level. He does a few great shows but I love the Haskincast for the fact it covers so much of the entertainment sector. One week it's an interview with an author, the next it's a comprehensive album or movie review, Scott covers it all in a professional but warm and friendly way. I've been lucky enough to guest on a few episodes and it's always a fantastic experience, go check it out!

5. Regarding...Series

Why this podcast?

They listen so you don't have to! Every want to hear breakdowns of such albums as "Lulu" by Lou Reed and Metallica, "Dark Side Of The Moon Redux" or "Van Halen III"? Yeah me neither, but Chaz, Wolfie and Scotzo make this show a ton of fun and hey...maybe you'll discover some new music that you'll love! Or more than likely not but at least you'll have fun on the ride!

Season 3 - Welcome to the ultimate rediscovery of Van Halen’s most controversial album. At the outset, we represent a good spectrum of views: Wolfie is 100% no opinion on the album; Scott leans more positive but is in the middle and has some dislikes; and Chaz is ... appreciative as a student of Edward Van Halen, and empathetic to his artistic cause, but not a big fan of the final output overall. To put it mildly. How Many Say Why is all they could be heard muttering to themselves, in a sea-shanty sort of sway. How Many Say Why? How Many Say Why?
