I find myself drawn to the more social side of history than dates or battles. While I do think dates and battles are important, I find questions like ‘When did Catherine of Aragon realize she'd lost Henry VIII’s love to Anne Boleyn?’ or ‘Just what exactly was Aaron Burr's deal?’ to be what really fascinates me about history. This is the lens that I view history from on the Door Key Podcast (and the accompanying Substack newsletter) because I'm a dork with a deep love of history who wants to talk about it.

Shandra and Louis’ shared love of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire ignited a bond of friendship that has now developed into a fantasy podcast. Join us as we discuss the expansive fantasy genre in all its different mediums.
Join Jess and Kyle, two married midwestern millennials along with their dear friend Chester as they try to navigate this thing called podcast. When not playing a game of Slanguage or sharing stories from their wilder days as high school friends they're really just looking for any opportunity to tie whatever hot button, taboo or dated topic of the week into talking about Taylor Swift, SVU, Jurassic Park or whichever late 90's early 2000's pop culture reference they see fit....even if no one else would!

"Previously, on..." helps you through some of the most complex and brilliant television ever made.
Hosted by broadcasters Jamie East and Katie Puckrik, it gives you a quick recap on your favourite shows, should you be confused, lost or even simply got distracted and now "it’s been 6 months and can you really be bothered to start the whole thing again and anyway your boyfriend just admitted he watched two seasons on the train to work without telling you"?
Each episode is short, all you need to do is find the episode you’re up to and get the recap. Think of it as a quick wikipedia update to get you up to speed.
It’s spoiler free, but just be careful not to listen to the wrong episode. Each ep only talks about THAT episode, or things that have happened in the past.
If we're covering a show that's being broadcast right now, we'll also do weekly discussion episode, to dissect and deliberate with experts and the people behind the scenes.
Shows we've covered so far:
- Game of Thrones
- Big Little Lies
- Stranger Things
- Peaky Blinders
- Watchmen
- Westworld
- Succession
Part of the Daft Doris network.
