The best podcasts to Provide a Well Rounded Listening Experience

Who am I?

I love knowing. I love learning, about many things, and seeing the connections happen, and grow, and flourish, and morph into a whole new knowledge unto itself. I love understanding. I love taking what I have learned, and the new knowledge that that learning bore, and examining it from many angles, so I may come away with a more well rounded understanding of what I learned. Knowledge is power. Understanding is powerful. I believe we all need to spend more time in these places. We need to want to learn, but also to understand that which we learned. We need to be open to ideas that are foreign to us or challenge our preconceived notions. We need to understand that everyone is bringing their own perspective to the table, and that there are valid points to be learned through open discourse and mutual understanding. We don't have to agree, but we do need to be able to listen, absorb, learn and understand.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Our podcast is about how magic exists naturally within the natural world. Our podcast is about how magic is all around you whether you see it or not. And other things... On the show I play out the passion I have described. I learn all I can about our subject matter- both from the aspects that interest me and those that do not. By learning everything I can I am able to make and see connections that ultimately help me to better understand and explain the subject matter to our audience. By learning everything I can sometimes I find unexpected information, disappointing information, information that debunks, or corroborates, my preconceived notions. And in the end understanding creeps in for us all, or that is my hope.

What is my podcast playlist about?

I listen to what I like to think is a pretty well rounded array of podcasts, many different varieties of show types, and subject matter covered. This particular list is entertaining, educational, and enlightening.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Petals of Support

Why this podcast?

In every episode of Petals of Support Mama D brings very relevant, universal, down to earth life advice. Her points are always thoughtful and thought-provoking and I appreciate that she causes me to think deeper on her subject matter, even with topics I've previously personally explored. Blossom as a person with Mama D on Petals of Support.

2. Full Circle (the Podcast) with Charles Tyson, Jr. & Martha Madrigal

Why this podcast?

I love learning about current events through a decidedly queen lens from Mr. Charles and Ms Martha! Their voices are like buttah, which often helps ease the pain of the Cavalcade of Nonsense. Always informative and incredibly entertaining. It's like getting the news, but in style.

Writers, artivists, and creatives CHARLES TYSON, JR. and MARTHA MADRIGAL come to you each week with their unique brand of wit and humor as they discuss current headlines affecting the LGBTQ+ community, pop culture, and navigating life as a black queer man and a white trans femme, recently engaged.
After ten years of friendship and another twelve years as a couple, these former tavern owners invite you into their home at East Barbary Lane each week to visit with them, their ridiculously needy puppy, and their two eternally feuding cats. They might even add a surprise guest now and again.

3. Horrifying History

Why this podcast?

I LOVE history! I LOVE learning! Brenda brings it all in incredibly interesting stories, from the darker side of history. Always an incredibly interesting listen, you can learn about so many different subjects in digestible 20-30ish minutes. Sometimes it's a subject I'm aware of, but more often than not it's new to me, which is a thrill! Whether or not it's something I was aware of, I always learn a lot.

4. Against All Oddities

Why this podcast?

My favorite podcast. Possibly the only podcast whose content I've heard all of, and every episode is as enthralling as the 1st one I listened to. These guys are the greatest! The fact that they're brothers who get along so well is magical, but then add in their conversation and individual ingenuity- such an enchanting show. Metaphysical met it's match with this family in just the best way possible. I love their discussions, I love learning from each of them every episode, I love learning their perspectives, because I always think. My mind explodes with ideas and connections based on what they teach me, and every month it's something new and exciting, no matter how mundane it may seem.

5. The Neatcast

Why this podcast?

Hilarity, news, hijinks, "news", frenemies, the paranormal, fun and games! The Neat boys bring it all. This is my favorite podcast to catch up on last because first off it's full of laughs. From start to finish they're at it with the comedy. In between the jokes I learn about odd news, odd happenings, and enjoy debates on science versus the paranormal. It's the same subject in different languages, but eventually the boys will understand that. In the meantime the "banter" is fun, and usually above the belt.

Three fellas and the occasional guest go in on contemporary news, stanger news, and weird tales from around the world. No sacred cows, and way too many jokes await you in every episode. If you learn something along the way, then that's your fault. Enjoy!
