Who am I?

Hi there! My name is Katie, and I'm delighted to share a little about myself with you. For the past three decades, I have dedicated my life to the noble profession of teaching. It has been an incredible journey filled with countless opportunities to shape young minds and inspire the next generation. I currently reside in the vibrant city of Washington, DC, where I have planted my roots and built a home. Being in the nation's capital allows me to immerse myself in a rich tapestry of history and culture, providing endless avenues for learning and growth both inside and outside the classroom. As a single mom, my two amazing daughters are the center of my world. They are the driving force behind my unwavering commitment to education and the reason I strive to be the best version of myself every day. Balancing the demands of motherhood and a fulfilling career has taught me valuable lessons in resilience, adaptability, and the importance of self-care. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the privilege of molding young minds and watching my students blossom into confident individuals ready to tackle the world. I firmly believe that education has the power to transform lives and create positive change, and I am passionate about instilling a love for learning in each and every one of my students. In my classroom, I strive to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where students feel safe to express themselves, explore their interests, and take risks. I encourage critical thinking, creativity, and empathy, fostering a love for knowledge that extends far beyond the walls of our classroom. Outside of my teaching endeavors, I enjoy immersing myself in literature and podcasts , discovering new hiking trails in the beautiful surrounding nature, and engaging in community outreach programs that aim to bridge the education gap. These experiences fuel my own personal growth and enable me to continuously bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas into my teaching practice. My journey as an educator has been an incredibly rewarding one, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of countless students. I look forward to many more years of inspiring and empowering young minds, helping them realize their full potential, and shaping a brighter future for our society. I am a teacher and I would love to share the podcasts that I listen to with other teachers. There is a lot of information that can be taken from these podcasts and passed along to our students.
