The best podcasts for Supporting Ukraine

This is a weekly video podcast on YouTube featuring a discussion between two members of the Kyiv Independent team. Host Anastasiia Lapatina keeps a conversational tone even while discussing extremely challenging situations. Her guests are always informative, offer in-depth analysis, and are very much worth the time to listen to.

This show has just recently emerged and I'm loving it! Yewleea uses a very old-school announcer style with a modern twist that you just have to experience to understand. Her work focuses on weeding out the truth and learning to identify propaganda. Yewleea also hosts live chats on Tiktok and manages an Instagram channel - both helpful when events are unfolding rapidly.

Ukraine: Global is a small show that might easily be overlooked. I recommend it because it centers Ukrainian voices and tells important stories about what real people are creating on the ground every day to help the situation improve. I've even make some contacts by reaching out to the guests directly.

If you support Ukraine, you might consider learning a bit of the language. Why? If you've ever learned another language, you know how much of the spirit of a culture lives and breathes within language. Ukrainian Lessons Podcast is a great place to start. Beyond the podcast itself, Anna offers language materials for a variety of learner levels. She also hosts a wonderful Facebook community of learners who support and celebrate each other as they meet their learning goals.

Yevhen is based in Kyiv. His show began right after Russia's full-scale invasion. As you follow along with the episodes, you learn about daily life in Ukraine during that time. He now offers transcripts and stories on Instagram. This is a great show for folks with an intermediate level of Ukrainian. I'm not there yet, but I listen to it on slow-slow speed and always learn something.
