The best podcasts for getting me through to the next CROpod

Who am I?

While the CROpod is ostensibly a Rangers FC show, we never stick to that. It helps to listen to a bunch of stuff throughout the week just to see what else is going on in pods and always stay informed in as many areas as possible. It's Rangers. Podcasts were just becoming a thing back in 2012. I can talk a lot and so can my friends. It worked out all right.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Obviously, H&H was there at the beginning of the Rangers podcasts, along with the We Are The People pod (RIP). But the three hosts of those original shows during that pretty dark time for our club decided, "Hey, why wouldn't people still want to listen to us talk in 2020?" And so with our powers combined, we make 90 minutes of irreverent chat every week.

What is my podcast playlist about?

I listen to around a dozen shows on a regular rotation, but these are five of the most consistent ones. Nothing makes cleaning up after dinner go better than listening to something interesting that may come in handy as I develop my own programming.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Stuff You Should Know

Why this podcast?

Always always always must-listen. Who doesn't love Josh and Chuck? Just a couple of guys shooting the business over everything and anything; what the essence of podcasting was about.

2. 5-4

Why this podcast?

Knowing how the courts have been turned into an unchecked and somehow unimpeachable branch of the government is vital to understanding where we are as a nation today.

5-4 is a podcast about how much the Supreme Court sucks. It's a progressive and occasionally profane take on the ideological battles at the heart of the Court's most important landmark cases; an irreverent tour of all the ways in which the law is shaped by politics.

There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
