Who am I?
My name is Lex and I am one of the hosts of the Wednesday Pull List! Comic books have been a part of my life since I was just seven years old. The vibrant illustrations, compelling stories, and incredible characters ignited a passion within me that has only grown stronger over time. As an illustrator myself, I've always dreamed of contributing to the comic book industry in some way, and this podcast is a natural extension of that dream. The Wednesday Pull List began as a way to stay connected with a dear friend after I moved away. Little did I know it would blossom into a platform where I could discuss, analyze, and celebrate the medium that means so much to me. It's become a space to dive into the latest releases, unravel complex storylines, and explore the endless array of narratives that captivate comic book enthusiasts like us. But my love for geek culture doesn't stop at comic books alone. I adore all things comic book-related, from the pages to the big screen and even the immersive worlds of video games. The ability of these mediums to transport us to incredible realms, spark our imaginations, and touch our hearts is something I find truly awe-inspiring. Through this podcast, my goal is to create a vibrant community of fellow comic book lovers, aspiring creators, and fans of geek culture. I want to share my passion, knowledge, and unwavering enthusiasm with all of you, inviting you to join in the conversation, discover new releases, and find inspiration in the boundless universe of comic books. So, come along on this thrilling journey with me as we explore extraordinary narratives, awe-inspiring artwork, and the endless possibilities that await within the vast realm of geek culture. Together, let's celebrate the power of storytelling, the beauty of illustrations, and the joy of being part of a community that embraces the wonders of geek culture. Welcome to the Wednesday Pull List! I chose to delve into the world of geek culture because it has been a significant part of my life, providing both inspiration and solace. As a content creator of mixed cultural backgrounds, Black/Japanese/White, I believe it is crucial to uplift the voices of other people of color in this space. Growing up being immersed in diverse cultural influences, I found refuge in the imaginative realms of geek culture. Whether it was through comic books, anime, video games, or movies, I discovered narratives that allowed me to explore different perspectives and escape societal norms. This personal connection to the subject matter fuels my passion and dedication to create content that resonates with others who have similar experiences. As I delved deeper into geek culture, my love and enthusiasm for it grew. I became well-versed in various forms of media, analyzing their narratives, and engaging deeply with their themes. While I don't claim to be an ultimate expert, my genuine passion and unique perspective have allowed me to provide insightful analysis, thought-provoking discussions, and a platform for underrepresented voices. By highlighting diverse voices and perspectives within geek culture, I aim to contribute to a more inclusive and vibrant community. Representation matters, and I strongly believe in amplifying the voices of people of color. Through my platform, I strive to foster a space where everyone's experiences and perspectives are celebrated and heard. My choice to focus on geek culture stems from my personal experiences as a person of mixed heritage and the importance I place on representation. My love for this subject matter, coupled with my unique perspective, has enabled me to engage deeply with geek culture and provide a platform for underrepresented voices. It is my hope that by doing so, I can contribute to a more inclusive and diverse geek culture community.
