The best podcasts for Black Music Month...and beyond

Queue Points is a podcast that celebrates Black music and creatives through meaningful dialogue. The show is hosted by DJ Sir Daniel and Jay Ray, who are as good as it gets when it comes to podcasting. We were guests on their show in 2022 and we had them on an episode of They Reminisce Over You earlier this year. Their episodes are not only entertaining, but very informative as well. Get into it.

The Vault: Classic Music Reviews Podcast is a show that reviews classic hip-hop, R&B and reggae albums 20, 25 and 30 years after their release to see if they still hold up all these years later. We had the pleasure of recording an episode with B. Cox, earlier this year, and it was an awesome time! We had a #HipHop50 themed discussion where we talked about some classic albums, what makes an album "classic," and what some of the best years of the past 50 years of hip hop music were.

The Music Snobs is a show that's all about discussing the world of Black music. The hosts, Arthur, Scoop, Jehan, and Donnie are a group of friends and music enthusiasts who love to share their knowledge and opinions on various genres and styles. They very lively conversations about different topics, like an artist, album, or era in music history. They talk about the cultural context of the music, share personal stories, and offer insights that are both informative and entertaining. It's a great show for anyone who loves music and wants to hear knowledgeable and fun conversations about it.

Hip Hop Confessions is a show hosted by rapper and ghostwriter, Skillz. He has conversations with other rappers, producers, deejays within the culture and asks them about their unpopular opinions or secrets about music industry that they've never admitted to anyone else, that they're willing to share with his audience. The confessions told aren't hurtful or malicious, but something fun and entertaining that might result in some serious side eye.

Over here, we’re all in on Prince content, so this podcast is right up our alley. Hosted by Nichole Perkins, this show takes look at his life and career. Featuring interviews with Prince himself, his family, friends, fans and people who worked with him over the years. If you’re a fan like we are, this is a pod that you should check out.
