Who am I?
I co-host Famous & Gravy because I love having smart conversations about how pop culture impacts our lives. I am also mid-life, and I want to make the most of whatever time I have left on this planet. Bill Paxton has arguably the single greatest IMDB of any actor. I'm not saying he's the best actor – only that he has the most range and has been in an incredible amount of outstanding and rewatchable films (not to mention TV shows).

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?
Famous & Gravy is a conversation about quality of life, one dead celebrity at a time. On each episode we choose a recently deceased celebrity and ask "Would you want that life?" We are on a quest to find the secret sauce (i.e., gravy) so that we can make the most of our own lives. Our show is category-based so that audiences feel like they're participating in the conversation. In our research for our Bill Paxton episode, entitled "Not Bill Pullman", we discovered an incredible number of excellent podcasts with Paxton.

Quite simply, the hidden greatness of Bill Paxton. For us, Bill Paxton is one of the all time great co-stars, and his legacy is worth exploring across many shows.

On every episode we choose a celebrity who died between 1 and 10 years ago. We then go through a series of structured categories. We start by rating the first line of their NYT obituary on a scale of 1–10. We then look at their life stats, we speculate on their inner lives, and we ultimately answer the question "Would I want that life?" Each category helps weigh the desirability of a given life. Our approach is that of an empathetic biography. Our dead celebrities cross many categories of fame, including film, TV, sports, music, politics, literature, and more. Our goal is to make serious topics fun.
