Who am I?

Olivia Howell is the co-founder and CEO of Fresh Starts Registry, the first and only platform for everything you need to begin again, including divorce or breakup, moving, career changes, stepping into your truth, or starting again after grief. After her own divorce in 2019, Olivia had an 'aha moment' when she realized that we celebrate weddings and babies with a registry, but in the moments we really need to restock our life, like divorce, job loss, or any brave decision and major life change, we need the support, both in the form of support items for your home and the experts who become our hype team. From there, Fresh Starts Registry was born, the first Support Registry and Divorce Registry - and the only platform which aggregates support experts for all life changes and supports the Fresh Starts Experts in their marketing, business, and public relations. Olivia is also the co-host of the top rated podcast, A Fresh Story, and the co-author of Simple Scripts to Support Your People: What to Say When You Don't Know What to Say. At Fresh Starts Registry, we believe there are two rules in life: you have to be safe, and you have to be in the pursuit of joy. We believe that choosing yourself and your happiness is the most brave decision you can make and we believe that you are worthy of brave decisions. Sometimes it can feel weird or selfish to choose ourselves and our joy, and we're here to give you permission to choose yourself and your own journey. You are worthy of joy.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

A Fresh Story features real life stories from people who made the brave decision to choose themselves. With stories from people of all walks of life - and brave decisions that range from breast reductions to career changes to divorce, it's all about making the decision to put your self-worth before all, and how that will empower you to live the life you deserve. A Fresh Story is produced by Fresh Starts Registry, the first and only platform for everything you need to start again. Did you know that every person typically has 14 significant life changes in a lifetime? We started Fresh Starts Registry for that reason because we believe that every fresh start is worth celebrating. In doing so, we realized that so many people are collectively experiencing these bold and brave life choices, and the more we share our fresh start stories, the more we can inspire, guide, and support others on their brave journeys. At the end of the day, we hope A Fresh Story brings you joy, empathy, camaraderie, compassion, and perspective. But most importantly, we hope that A Fresh Story reminds you that you're never alone. Founded by sisters Olivia Howell and Jenny Dreizen, Fresh Starts is known for shifting the cultural narrative to celebrate brave life decisions and big, bold life choices. Fresh Starts has been featured on The Today Show, Forbes, The NY Post, Newsday, New York Magazine, DailyMail, and more. Each 45-minute episode is a casual conversation with a guest discussing their stories of beginning again, starting fresh, and finding themselves. A Fresh Story is a top 3% podcast in the personal journals category and has featured Emmy Winners, reality stars, authors, advocates, influencers, thought leaders and more.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. Time to Lean

Why this podcast?

Time to Lean, with Laura Danger and Crystal Britt is all about domestic equity - and choosing yourself. Both Laura and Crystal are Fair Play Facilitators, and the show is an awesome balance between answering listener questions, guest interviews, and their own discussions about inequity in the home, domestic labor, and self-worth. I particularly like the episode "Picking Up the Slack," because it is all about how to prevent resentment in the home, and also has a listener question from a single mom. You'll love their hosting style, authenticity, and real life strategies they impart to listeners to choose yourself and your peace of mind.

2. We Can Do Hard Things

Why this podcast?

As Glennon Doyle says, we can do hard things - and this podcast is all about making the "hard" (but brave) decision to choose our own joy! Hosted by Glennon and Amanda Doyle, and Abby Wambach, We Can Do Hard Things features joyful, authentic, and raw conversations about choosing ourselves and our own joy in life. We suggest the episode How to Make Betrayal Beautiful with author and poet Maggie Smith, as it is all about how to choose ourselves and not betray others in the journey.

Life is freaking hard. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing; caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, author of UNTAMED; her wife Abby Wambach; and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things including sex, gender, parenting, blended families, bodies, anxiety, addiction, justice, boundaries, fun, quitting, overwhelm . . . all of it. We laugh and cry and help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, free-er, less alone.
